Clever is looking for our next VP of Customer Success and Sales (CSS) to join our team. Our CSS team is passionate about creating opportunities to share Clever’s products with districts and supporting those who use our products every day!

As the VP of CSS you will have the opportunity to evolve and grow a team of district/school facing sellers while helping to define and refine the market strategy for district acquisition with Clever’s new rostering and IDM products, You will also manage and lead a geographically diverse team across Sales, Professional Services, Customer Success and Customer Support.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Elevate your team with adherence to CS best practices, mentorship, coaching, skills building, hiring and timely and open communication.
    • Drive and foster a high performance organization, talent development, and high engagement.
  • Build rapport with new and existing customers both on the district and application side to drive fast time to value, land and expand motion at scale and to mitigate churn.
    • Manage the customer relationship ensuring they are deriving the maximum value from products.
    • Become a SME in Clever’s product, space, and industry #Alwaysastudent
    • Make the school districts that use the company’s greatest asset - continue to drive customer advocacy.
  • Create a strategic and operational plan for the next phase of our new and existing Customer Growth & Success organization ensuring you are accounting for operational, organizational, and system needs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement customer retention strategies across the customer lifecycle.
    • Provide customer feedback related to the product experience to Sales, Marketing, and Engineering/Product organizations.
  • Inspire and create a company-wide culture of Customer Success focusing on partnering with the Product team to achieve growth and retention while defining Customer Success involvement during the sales cycle.
  • Develop and execute on Clever’s company strategy and operational plan as part of the executive team

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Sales and/or Post-sales leadership experience in a sector outperforming ed-tech companies, domain knowledge is important.
  • Demonstrated strength in owning all aspects of both sales and post-sales, including implementations, customer success and support. Experience in both landing new school and accounts and the growth and retention of those accounts would be ideal.
  • Ability to recruit, lead, motivate, coach, and assess high performance teams and make appropriate changes as needed.
  • Has an understanding of how to build diverse teams and demonstrates and equitable and inclusive leadership style
  • Experience being deeply integrated with sales to help grow the deal value and act as an enabler for the company's growth objectives.
  • Strong customer EQ, can understand customer problems and needs as though they were in their shoes.
  • A great executive peer and partner to other internal functional leaders and organizations.
  • Very strong leader in setting clear metrics, goals and objectives and managing against them.
  • An excellent operator. Must be adept at building and defining processes, continuously driving KPI’s, and building strong relationships while working directly with customers.
  • Perhaps most important, a passion for learning and helping people achieve their goals both within the Clever customer base and within the company itself.

For Colorado* based candidates - The range of our base salary cash compensation for this role for candidates living in Colorado is between $260,000-$280,000, final offers are determined using multiple factors including experience and level of expertise. This position also offers a variable annual bonus incentive. We offer a full robust benefits package and stock equity program. Because Clever’s base compensation is driven by location, our recruiters will be happy to discuss a salary range for other locations during the interview process.
