Duolingo is looking for an expert test developer, with the desire and ability to support content development. You will join the Duolingo English Test’s growing research team and contribute to the agile, ongoing development of the Duolingo English Test, supporting our efforts to advance Duolingo’s mission through science.

You Will...

• Collaborate in the development and auditing of English assessment content
• Recruit, train, and evaluate language assessment experts who review and revise content for the Duolingo English Test
• Help develop rubrics, metrics, and quality control processes and materials for launching new items on the Duolingo English Test
• Create reports describing the results of the content review process
• Work with passionate researchers, engineers, and designers to bring innovative, research-driven assessment instruments to life

You Have...

• MA in language testing, applied linguistics, second language acquisition, TESOL, or a related field.
• 5+ years of work experience in test development.
• Experience developing materials and processes for and/or conducting content review or rater training for test development and scoring.
• Outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Experience managing freelancers for test development.

Exceptional Candidates Will Have...

• 10 years of post-MA experience working in language assessment
• Excellent skills in data analysis tools, such as SPSS, Mplus/ EQS or R and Python
• Awareness of machine learning and natural language processing technologies, and an open mind as to how they can be integrated with more traditional language testing techniques
