BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) business is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and innovative alpha insights. Our team of 300+ multi-asset investment professionals constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels. Currently, MASS manages over $1 trillion in assets and has a strong presence in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Sydney, Japan, India, New York, Princeton, San Francisco, and London.

In this role, the individual will operate as the Lead Platform Strategist for the Asia ex Japan Multi Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) business across institutional client segments reporting to the APAC Head of MASS. In addition, the individual will drive AxJ product strategy for the Global Tactical Asset Allocation team (GTAA), while maintaining engagement with the multi-asset platform’s broader investment capabilities. Working across our robust platform of strategies and solutions allows for a more consultative approach to our discussions with institutional clients, who are demanding increasing levels of portfolio customization and complexity.

Successful candidates should have an excellent understanding of all asset classes, multi-asset investing, risk management concepts, portfolio construction, macro research and have strong communication skills. Additionally, they should have strong knowledge of the AxJ Institutional market and a proven track record of working across a variety of different institutional client profiles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set the commercial strategy for the AxJ institutional MASS business – decide what types of business we will pursue, and which we will decline – working with relevant lead investors
• Lead pitches, working with relevant lead investors to secure new mandates from institutional Investors
• Own the triage of opportunities and the quality of our response
• Define and articulate the nature of the client’s investment problem and objectives and seek the appropriate MASS solution
• Present portfolio and performance updates at client and consultant meetings
• Preparation of client presentation materials and RFP responses which detail the proposed solution
• Own key client relationships, for MASS, and manage client engagement (i.e. delivering investment and market updates, responding to client requests, training and education)
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the full suite of solutions offered by MASS and the products run by other investment areas within BlackRock along with broader market themes and industry trends
• Develop strong alignment with key business partners (e.g. Client Business) and grow positive relationships with key business partners that facilitate and support the solutions business within the firm
• Be a people manager to junior strategists and grow the careers of junior talent within the team
• Actively demonstrate our ‘One BlackRock’ principles working as an effective partner across our APAC and Global Multi-Asset Strategies & Portfolio Solutions teams, as well as the client business and local support teams

Key Qualifications:

• 10+ years of relevant experience in multi asset and investment management
• A proven ability to analyze the market landscape, seek out business opportunities and grow a scalable book of business with institutional investors
• Well-developed strategic thinking ability with commercial market awareness and business acumen
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas and processes
• Experience acting as a people manager or mentor for junior talent
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders across a global matrix and building deep partnerships with clients and peers
• High level of energy, hunger, discipline, tenacity, and self-motivation
• Degree educated, investment management qualification and/or CFA designation are a plus
