PayPal’s Blockchain, Crypto and Digital Currencies (BCDC) business unit is focused on ensuring end-to-end management of PayPal’s underlying product, technology infrastructure, partnerships and regulatory foundations for digital assets to help enable our support of existing capabilities and markets, as well as drive continued growth in the space.
The tech operations team is expected to have a technical understanding of BCDC’s products as well as the ability to analyze and resolve live technical and integration issues in production. Technical support services will be provided to internal PayPal teams who integrate with BCDC.
Looking for technically strong candidate, with hands on development experience in JAVA, who is self-motivated, and a team player, with good professional and academic track record to be part of a team that deals with most innovative payments processing, team that deals transactions at scale. The Software Engineer will be responsible for delivering new feature Development and overall Operations activities for BCDC Org.

Responsibilities :

• Develops efficient, elegant, clean, reusable code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction.
• Create / Review well-articulated, detailed design documents.
• Manages workload and other assignments efficiently while being able to resolve time-critical situations reliably and professionally.
• Participates in the development of tools, systems and processes aimed at improving product supportability or overall support productivity.
• Advises management and appropriate groups on support issues which impact customer satisfaction and provides recommendations for appropriate actions.
• Triage and troubleshoot Live issues for PayPal BCDC products and applications on the live site.
• Collaborate with product development teams and various business groups to prioritize, identify and develop reliability and support-ability improvements.
• Work with PayPal PD teams on integration and post-integration (live) issues.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to BCDC’s cloud environment, connectivity, networking, workloads, applications, DBs etc.
• Assist with the integration and configuration of the BCDC APIs and products across multiple clients.
• Work with Site Operation and command center teams to address LIVE issues.
• Debug live issues and communicate with internal stakeholders. Identify and submit defects.
• Engage in the automation of daily activities that drive operational excellence and ensure highly productive operating procedures.
• Support and enhance payment monitoring, alerting escalation mechanisms.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with cross vertical teams such as Product Management, Product Development, Site Reliability and Operations.
• Weekend and after-hours support, on a rotating schedule, is required.
• Work with product development teams and various business groups to prioritize, identify and develop reliability and supportability improvements.

Requirements :

• 6+ years of experience in software product development.
• Expert hands on development experience using JAVA, Spring Core and Spring Batch.
• Deep understanding of and extensive experience applying advanced object-oriented design and development principles.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience developing data-driven applications using an industry standard RDBMS (Oracle, DB2, etc.), including strong data architecture and SQL development skills.
• Experience collaborating with business users to define the key business requirements and translate them into process/technical solutions.
• Knowledge on scripting languages like Unix Shell, Perl, Python is a plus.
• Passion to work on Operations to identify issues and help resolve customer pain points.
• Responsible for analyzing existing monitoring, alerting, Splunk dashboard skills and be an escalation point for production issues and responsible for driving them resolution.
• Knowledge on data modelling skills with relational databases, elastic search (Kibana), Hadoop.
• Experience with REST API’s, Web Services, Unit Testing and build tools.
• Understanding or experience in Messaging systems like KAFKA, AMQ, JMS etc.
• Strong communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, iterative development environment.
• Strong time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities.
• Proven results-oriented person with a delivery focus.
• Expertise in online payments and related domains is a plus.
• Understanding of blockchain technologies and ecosystem is a plus.
• Bachelor/ Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, closely related quantitative discipline.

• Believe in Agile development and are comfortable with SCRUM process.
• Refactor existing code base and in understanding existing implementations to decide to refactor or rewrite.
• Identify Performance bottlenecks and use good coding patterns to avoid them.
• You’re a strong advocate of good coding standards and preach code-coverage tools like Sonar.
