The PayPal Legal Team is looking for an experienced paralegal to join its Litigation Group. In this role, you will closely work with the Litigation team attorneys and paralegals with a heavy focus on eDiscovery.

The PayPal Legal Team is looking for an experienced and dynamic paralegal to join its Litigation Group. In this role, you will closely work with the Litigation team attorneys and paralegals with a heavy focus on eDiscovery. This position reports to the Senior Director, Associate General Counsel, Global Head of eDiscovery and Technology.


This eDiscovery and litigation paralegal will assist attorneys in all phases of case development, including document collection, review, and preparation for production, deposition preparation, and document organisation. The role provides the central European contact between members of case and business teams, the global eDiscovery team and vendors to promote communication, design and implement efficient discovery workflows to ensure projects are timely completed.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of litigation including preparing hold notices, researching, and analysing claims, gathering documents, and reviewing pleadings and discovery responses. Also responding to discovery, trial preparation, and settlements.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of, and proficiency with, PayPal eDiscovery and data subject access request workflows and perform data collections from a variety of data repositories, including Office 365, Slack, shared files and folders. You will also provide support to attorneys, paralegals, and law firm personnel regarding practice support software and tools (e.g., Relativity, Eclipse, NUIX, iPro, etc.).
  • Review and handle small claims court hearings and represent PayPal and its subsidiaries.
  • Maintain and manage information relating to litigation and other matters handled by PayPal’s Litigation team and use that information to drive better processes and efficiencies.
  • Prepare metrics, reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Prior in-house or law firm experience as a litigation paralegal directly related to complex commercial litigation. High proficiency/certification in iPro, Relativity, NUIX, Brainspace, or other processing and document review related tools preferred.
  • Proficiency all aspects of litigation lifecycle, case management and the eDiscovery Reference Model (“EDRM”).
  • Knowledge of underlying processes of EDRM (e.g. early case assessment, processing, productions, and review protocols).
  • Proficient in Relativity workspace set-up including, but not limited to, analytics, user set-up and group permissions, coding layouts, running complex keyword and dtSearch queries, and workflow customisation such as indexing, set-up of views, field/choices, persistent highlighting sets, etc.
  • Sound understanding of EU and US discovery and disclosure law and practice. Knowledge of issues arising from foreign languages and character sets, ability to advise on forensic preservation, collection and processing of data in the US and EU countries preferred, experience with Asian region a plus.
  • Fluent English required, German and Hebrew language skills a plus
