The Brand Engagement Program Manager, Local Marketing will directly impact our long-term success by leading the strategic direction of innovative programs that add value to the REI membership and drive new member growth. We are looking for a Brand Engagement Program Manager, Local Marketing to support REI’s Boston market. The Program Manager manages activity at the market level through demonstrated expertise of local customer insights, geography, and the national REI Go-To-Market strategy. This job contributes to REI’s success through the planning and delivery of Local Marketing communications including local events, sponsorships & partnerships; community building; earned media, press releases, social media; locally-focused online program listings; digital promotions and ad placements; partnership media placements; influencer content development and local diversity inclusion into REI communication channels; and communication of national REI press releases within their specific market. This role reports directly to the Regional Manager, Local Marketing ensuring all local marketing & earned media plans ladder to Regional Local Marketing objectives. In this role you will:
- Identify and develop new program opportunities and ensures program performance goals are met, including but not limited to:
- increased brand awareness and engagement
- brand relevance & authenticity
- customer lifetime value
- new customer acquisition
- member retention
- drive store/digital traffic
- connect Co-op-wide initiatives at a regional and market level
Some additional responsibilities include support of budget and forecasting, earned media partnership development and management, contract negotiations with influencers and/or media partners and/or key strategic partners, management of local influencer relationships and partnership deliverables, and program assessment and reporting/tracking. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission. This role is remote-first with aspects that require in-person and travel like team gatherings/trainings, partner meetings, in-store activities, and programs/activations. Candidates must already reside in the Greater Boston area. Relocation stipends will not be provided. Bring your passion and expertise

- B.A. in Business or Marketing or equivalent experience
- 5 + years of experience in marketing, social media marketing, digital marketing, community engagement, B2B partnerships
- Prior experience with regional marketing programs, earned media, social media marketing, community engagement programs (digital media with events & partnerships)
- Detail oriented with strong written and communication skills
- Strong project management experience from promotional assets to event management
- 2+ years of experience in managing budgets
- Ability and strength influencing, leading and collaborating with peers and remote groups to produce desired results
- Strong identification with REI’s customer service philosophy; ability to effectively resolve difficult customer issues
- Passion for preserving and recreating in the outdoors
- Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
- Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions to support the direction taken by others at REI.
- Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
