Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) in Pune, is an integral part of Eaton’s global engineering and technology footprint and house one third of Eaton’s intellectual horsepower with 2000 Engineers. EIIC is home for complete product design life cycle management, from research and technology efforts to product development &launches to product sustaining engineering activities. It has seven centers of excellence collaborate to leverage our size, scale and knowledge—and harness the power of One Eaton—for all of your power management solutions. Through proven technical excellence, EIIC continues to augment Eaton’s leadership in improving existing products and services and developing new offerings. EIIC operates through its two state-of-the-art campuses located at Kharadi and Magarpatta City along with a world class 70000 Sq ft lab in Pune. Today, EIIC’s current research and technology efforts are focused on global trends that are driving our future including: energy systems, intelligent machines, advanced materials and additive manufacturing. EIIC is focused on augmenting Eaton’s vision of “improving the quality of life and environment through the use of intelligent power management technologies and services”.

At Eaton India Innovation Center - Digital Engineering organization is looking for Executive Engineering role, who will set the direction for this digital transformation and create new ways of working and thinking, for ourselves and our customers. This position is based at our office in Magarpatta City, Pune.

Director for Digital Engineering is high impact role for overall strategic vision for software including conceptualization, analysis, design, build, launch and performance for the various business group/divisions of Eaton Digital Office. Partnerning with Global Digital team to build strategy around future road map of Digital team. Critical to the success of this role is the candidate’s ability to understand the products and services of Eaton. Ability to translate business requirements into practical application, ensuring that concepts get fully executed into product offerings that achieve a defined business outcome including transformation from legacy to microservices architecture (e.g., business process improvement, new services innovation, end-user client analytics and business insight). The powerful combination of advanced software application and data insight should deliver significant results measured by enhanced customer satisfaction, new services innovation, operational efficiencies and monetization.

Acting as member of the Eaton India Innovation Center, Leadership Team and Global Eaton Digital Office defining and driving the overall direction, vision, deployment, and management for the digital organization at Eaton India Innovation Center. This role will lead the digital effort to support Cloud Connectivity, Edge Enablement, Development Toolkits, Cybersecurity, Data Science and Analytics that will drive to become becomes more ubiquitous and cost-efficient, intelligent power management company.

The Director Software and Digital Engineering will report directly to the VP & head of Eaton India Innovation Center, Pune, India and Functional Reporting to the CTO ands SVP Digital Software R&D. The job includes responsibility for the leadership, actions and team development of a 200+ member technology team located in P one.

This role will need prior organizational leadership experience. You can connect with your Software and Digital on a technological level and have an excellent foundation in software design. You are driven, team-oriented, with vision and an energizing leadership style to strategic influence and drive change. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and tasks while adapting quickly to changing priorities.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and execute on a well thought out strategy for the digital organization.
  • Build a world class software development team to consistently deliver complex software platforms and research projects for domains such as industrial manufacturing, automation, electrical/energy automation is preferred.
  • Collaboratively work with others to define future technology platforms and architecture for products and services in the context of SaaS applications.
  • Lead a large software engineering organization responsible for design, development, testing and delivery of an enterprise class cloud native SaaS offering using agile development methodologies.
  • Attract, recruit, and lead next gen digital talent team to drive EIIC goals.
  • Build global organizational and talent development capability including succession plans.
  • Actively present leadership updates to EIIC Leadership and EDO Leadership. Ensure organization is positioned to support growth in emerging markets.
  • Quickly learn, internalize and develop a strong understanding of key priorities and align with stakeholders to ensure that data and process changes required in systems are implemented in accordance with project objectives and timelines.
  • Provide day to day work direction to the front line team members engaged in their respective Software Groups like Embedded, Cloud, Application
  • Facilitate and coach software engineering teams on requirements estimate and work sizing.
  • Demonstrate mastery of intricacies and interactions within dynamic agile cultures and processes.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem
  • Industrial domain experience – developing application software for domains such as industrial manufacturing, automation, electrical/energy automation is preferred
  • Experience in system design and working knowledge of cloud computing platforms (such as Amazon Web Services), common development tools and secure coding practices.
  • Ability to work in matrixed environments and track record of demonstrated success in delivery of large-scale software development programs
  • Capability to develop processes and digital platforms to be driven across a diversified group of business segments
  • Experience and success with developing and commercializing digital technologies.
  • Empathizes and actively learns about customer’s needs and how they create value
  • Builds relationships outside of engineering to understand, influence, and be their advocate
  • Demonstrated experience in building organizational technology capabilities; increases the development of high performing talent and builds succession depth
  • Strong organizational leadership skills

Qualifications

Skills Required:-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution required. Preferred - Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 20+ years of design experience software products and/or embedded systems
  • Prior experience as organizational leader for a minum of 5 to 7 years in globally distributed teams
  • Experience utilizing best practices in software engineering, Agile development methodologies and concepts
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and DevOps
  • Thorough knwolegde of Software Development Life Cycle principles
  • Through working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and best practices
  • Understanding of full stack platform concepts and technologies. Recognizes patterns and complexity in problems. Extracts decomposition algorithms, and strategically plans how to execute programs by understanding how best to decompose to expose / protect against risk
  • Good understanding of Platform Integration strategies by developing applications and framework.
  • Lead the Application development team through management and mentorship in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and overall vision
  • Build engineering discipline for execution of medium to long range programs as they relate to intelligent power management solutions; develop and execute a software engineering culture
  • Interact with key stakeholders to recommend solutions aligned to business roadmaps.
  • Defines product vision. Lays out product roadmap. Maps current requirements to industry trends, analyses competition trends.
  • Build highly skilled teams focused on key technology growth areas such as software engineering, embedded systems, wireless communications, cybersecurity and user interfaces.
  • Promote a culture of technology and intellectual property leadership.
  • Develop procedures and common metrics to ensure that efficiency, collaboration, and quality standards are met
  • Manage project planning, including allocation of resources, assignment and coordination
  • Lead recruitment activities in partnership with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition teams
