Junior Android Engineer - User Platform

Job Description

The Platform team creates the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the frameworks, capabilities and tools needed to welcome a billion customers. Join us and help to amplify productivity, quality and innovation across Spotify. We are looking for a curious, engaged Android engineer to join User Platform and help us deliver a great developer experience for engineers working with remote configuration properties and product state. We build and maintain the infrastructure that allows for running rollouts and experiments in the Experimentation Platform through a SDK fully written in Kotlin which contains many opportunities to learn, such as working with code generation, Dagger, Gradle, Bazel and even C++.

What you'll do

• Be part of an infrastructure client developer team
• Build groundbreaking Android SDKs that bring the joy of music to millions of users
• Deliver improvements to our business critical delivery of Product State
• Write clear, maintainable code that will scale across a number of projects and distributed development teams.
• Improve developer experience, the team is driven by a strong focus on clean APIs and engineering productivity.
• Write code that generates code. Join the team that fuels the Spotify experimentation logic without manually writing a single line of code

Who you are

• You are a good communicator, an inclusive colleague and a true great teammate
• You have 1+ year of experience with Android development using Kotlin, and looking to further grow in that area
• Familiarity with testing practices, A/B testing or CI/CD, would be a bonus!
• You care for developer experience and enabling others to become more productive
• You have a strong quality mindset and care for the overall performance of the product
• You have a great ability to learn, and are eager to expand your areas of expertise (we will support you with training & mentoring)

• We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
• Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the EMEA region in which we have a work location and is within working hours
• Working hours? We operate within the Central European and GMT time zones for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone
