About this role

BlackRock is recruiting for a Director in our Singapore office, within Global Funds Distribution Services (“GFDS”). The team is responsible for the governance and oversight of our third-party providers and the delivery of Transfer Agency Business Change in relation to BlackRock on-shore funds in APAC as well as off-shore funds. In addition, the team leads a broad array of change activities spanning, regulatory changes, fund launches, client service enhancements and operating model changes associated with these fund ranges.

The successful candidate’s background could include asset management and in particular Transfer Agency services and other related experiences. The candidate should be a self-starter with strong leadership skills, with the ability to develop a growing team, deliver process improvements, while ensuring BlackRock’s extensive outsourced Transfer Agencies deliver against demanding product and service requirements. As well as provide oversight to transfer agency outsource partners, delivering enhanced services across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region improving processes and procedures, automation within the global operating models and implementing a strong control environment for the team. This role provides opportunities to grow both technically and individually, within the broader Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) group and BlackRock.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and evolve the team providing oversight and solution services and act as a ‘go to’ source of expertise on functional and process requirements.
  • Develop and build providers’ services to meet global product requirements, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Handle transfer agency and related operating model aspects and prioritizing work.
  • Use transfer agency operating model expertise to improve product features.
  • Ensure new products are aligned with relevant policies, business rules, and with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and build solutions to operational complexities and risks arising from product design.
  • Maintain positive relationships with TAS oversight teams globally including identifying, resolving, and leading delivery of changes to meet client needs.
  • Oversight and monitoring program including development and implementation of key controls, exception, and management reporting.
  • Identify changes and ensure processes are efficient within the oversight team.

Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the mutual fund industry with a transfer agency focus and exposure to Luxembourg, Dublin, and APAC onshore pooled fund products.
  • In-depth technical understanding across the business operating model, key product ranges, and investment types.
  • Risk focus and possess knowledge of inherent risks in the business and appropriate control framework required, taking account of the relevant regulatory environment.
  • Ability to set objectives, navigate, and direct change across the teams and providers to deliver.
  • Engage on ad-hoc projects in addressing complex problems with ability to prioritize, delegate and use judgment to get problems resolved.
  • Set the highest standards of delivery for self, the team and providers, and build an environment which will ensure standards are consistently met.
  • Prepared to take initiative, work flexibly to help the team achieve its goals, and respond positively to change.
  • Ability to identify problems and issues, work proactively with peers to resolve them and call out issues quickly and appropriately.
