Purpose of Job
The VP, Product Management – Real Estate Lending is accountable for leading and achieving the development and implementation of a multi-year, strategic vision for USAA FSB’s Mortgage products, service offerings and experiences. Directly responsible for leading the growth in one of USAA's most important product lines and delivers industry leading product offerings and service standards that meet Member needs while driving profitability. Ensures business plan expectations are achieved with additional focus on product strategy, product integration into an enterprise solution set, member experience, efficiency, compliance, innovation, continuous improvement, and risk management. Works collaboratively with Originations, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Compliance, Risk Management, Capital Markets, Legal, and Technology. Plans and directs all aspects of Real Estate Lending Product Management policies, objectives, and initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Accountable for establishing plans and strategies for developing the mortgage product business. Drives strategy development across core products, services and/or experiences within the portfolio. This includes maintaining pricing, distribution, marketing and promotion, and external partnership strategies within the risk appetite of the overall bank
- Maintains a pulse on the external marketplace to ensure evaluation of evolving member needs or industry changes that could enhance the real estate offerings or operation
- Works collaboratively across Product, Marketing, Finance, Risk Management, Legal, Information Technology, Operations, and the Distribution Sales and Services groups to execute strategy
- Reviews and manages the product set for appropriateness of financials, marketing strategy, market competitiveness, Member Experience, regulatory compliance, risk management, as well as efficiency of operation and technology delivery
- Manages the P&L ensuring business plan expectations are achieved with a focus on growing Membership and driving profitability
- Accountable for the Real Estate digital member facing experience for the entirety of the loan life cycle focused on ease of use and member satisfaction
- Optimizes product mix, leveraging segmentation to drive profit, market share and member penetration, Member satisfaction, and retention
- Holds responsibility for communicating the product value proposition to Distribution organization
- Ensures product team delivers sales support to all distribution channels (e.g., .com, mobile, contact center, realtors) so that the product is properly positioned to customers (sales tool and collateral development, sales training, etc.)
- Responsible for the development of the overarching technology strategy across all products and business verticals; will partner with business execution accountable executive to ensure integrated development and delivery of the strategy
- Manages holistic data and analytics strategy, including strategic, benchmarking, operational, credit risk, and regulatory domains; Responsible for data integration and information governance across all of Real Estate in partnership with Bank Business Intelligence and Analytics
- Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities
- Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree
Minimum Experience:
- 10 years of experience in technical discipline such as real estate lending, loan originations, underwriting, or capital markets with a proven track record leading comparable operations in a complex mortgage product P&L within a highly regulated financial services industry with knowledge of bank products, services, systems, operational policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance issues
- 8 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams
- Executive-level risk management acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends including understanding of issues related to the regulatory environment (FRB, OCC, FDIC)
- Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals required

Compensation:
- USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $236,400 - $425,700
- Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Long Term Incentive Plan:
- Cash payment for Executives only representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based
