Job Summary

Responsible for network site planning, equipment deployment planning, deployment managing and basic design of network instances. Completes network deployment, manages contract teams in deployment, provisions and supports, wireless, Ethernet transport regional network serving residential and commercial customers. Responds to network incidents, determines resources needed for correction and corrects or leads team involved in resolving incident. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource for colleagues with less experience.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

FreeWheel is hiring a Network Engineer reporting to the VP of Global Networks to build and support a 24x7 globally distributed Video Ads serving platform. This candidate will be part of a global tech team responsible for working with network topologies consisting of MPLS, IPSEC site to site solutions within the Corporate and Production networks. Aside from the technical aspect, the ideal candidate is someone who is self-motivated, reliable and a fun addition to the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor all infrastructure components, applications and provide emergency response
  • Work on enhancing our network monitoring through network automation.
  • Automate specific network administration day to day use cases, including configuration of routers and switches, ports, VLANs, and routing protocols. Experience with Ansible a plus.
  • Hands on experience with public cloud environments as it pertains to networking.
  • Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access
  • Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Implement Production/Corporate network environments including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc
  • Ability to provide off-hours coverage and willingness to be on call
  • Some travel required to different office locations world-wide

ABOUT YOU

  • 3 years of administering production network environment.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies such as Cisco ASA 5500 series Firewall, Cisco ASR routers, Nexus 5000 series, 3925E ISR, 3750X, 3560, Brocade 2848 RT.
  • Experience with WLAN technologies from Cisco (Aruba is a plus).
  • Knowledge of various internetworking protocols such as TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, SNMP.
  • Familiar with network and system management/analytic tools such as Solarwinds Orion and LEM, distributed sniffer such as Gigastore and stand alone network analysis tools like Wireshark.
  • Familiarity with monitoring systems such as Nagios, Orion, iPmonitor, or Netflow Collector
  • Good English, both written and verbal communication
  • BS or Master’s in Computer Science, Information System, Electrical Engineering, or closely related.
  • Knowledge of SLB/GSLB technologies such as Citrix Netscaler, A10 Networks or F5 Networks is a plus.
  • Experience working in online advertising, online media, or closely related field is a plus.
  • CCNP, CCIE certification is a plus.

Education

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
