We would love to talk to you about this great opportunity to work at our site in Menlo Park, California! GRAIL is seeking a detail oriented and data driven Associate Scientist for the R&D IVD product development team to contribute to the verification and validation (V&V) of assays for cancer early detection. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of experiments and data analysis with the mentorship of senior scientists. The ideal candidate is a meticulous, strong teammate with experience in next generation sequencing workflow and record keeping. Experience working on regulated products and under design control is important. The individual will enjoy working in the lab and have a desire to learn about developing products in a regulated environment.

You will:

    • Develop experiment plans to support study objective and plan
    • Successfully execute R&D experiments to generate high quality data
    • Document experimental details and results
    • Ensure laboratory activities are performed in compliance with best practices for assay and instrument operation, safety, and result documentation
    • Perform exploratory data analysis Present data in technical meetings
    • Contribute to study protocol/report writing

Your background and qualifications will include:

    • MS in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 3-5 years related experience
    • Expert with molecular biology laboratory techniques
    • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing
    • Experience working under GLP or regulated environment
    • Experience with NGS data analysis, R, Python, and/or JMP
    • Attention to detail and safety is important
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Willingness to collaborate cross-functionally in a dynamic environment
    • Flexibility with change and willingness to find solutions
