Job Responsibilities
The Early Career and University Relations (EC/UR) Manager reports directly to the Global Head, Talent Acquisition and is dedicated to building partnerships with universities and attracting and engaging the next generation of the Viasat workforce by introducing and promoting the Viasat brand to a broad range of talented diverse students at colleges and universities across the US and creating world-class programming for students to support the growth of Viasat.
The Early Career and University Relations Manager will work collaboratively across the organization to initiate, advocate, drive and measure programs and talent practices needed to build engagement with universities, students, and early career candidates. Understanding the importance of data to an engineering organization, The EC/UR Manager will employ a data-driven approach while tapping into their creativity and experience to design and develop integrated strategies. The EC/UR Manager will define future programs to ensure Viasat continues to build partnerships with key universities and attract entry level talent.
Below are the key expectations of this exciting new role:
• Work collaboratively with leadership, business, HR, and TA to develop integrated strategies for university relations, talent engagement programs focused on recruitment of interns and graduates focused on building a solid pipeline of talent– technical and functional roles.
• Manage, mentor, and develop team of geographically dispersed, high performing Relationship Managers and Campus Recruiters.
• Champion Diversity, Equity and Inclusion focus throughout the end-to-end recruiting process (postings, branding, university, and event selection).
• Manage internal and external stakeholders while working collaboratively to deliver on goals and mutually beneficial partnerships.
• Ensure leadership commitment and involvement in university programs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with leading colleges and universities and diversity organizations to foster opportunities to engage with key groups to support recruiting efforts.
• Integrate global perspective and research trends into an overall engagement strategy while making recommendations for new and existing programs based on gaps within program offerings.
• Works closely with our Communications and Employment Brand team and other areas on external public relations and events.
• Make formal presentations on behalf of the company and participate in facilitating management and employee training when needed.
• Develop and manage Early Career/University Relations budget; evaluating ROI against year over year spend.
• Partner with compensation to understand the university talent market to stay competitive with intern and recent college graduate salaries, bonuses, and relocation trends
Requirements
• 8 years of Talent Acquisition experience ideally with a focus on IT/Services recruitment, combined with 4 years of experience in University Relations and/or University Recruiting.
• 3 years of experience leading, building, and coaching recruiting team.
• Strong project management and creative problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams of TA professionals (contingent and full time).
• Strong strategy design, program development and management experience.
• Experience leveraging data sets and analytical skills to assess and measure results; use data to identify trends and key take-aways.
• Experience with capacity planning, forecasting, process improvement and measurements.
• Experience preparing and delivering executive level briefings to inform business leaders on the progress of key recruitment initiatives and hiring metrics.
• Expertise in compliance and privacy standards as well as knowledge and understanding of state and federal employment laws, AA/EEO recruiting and hiring policies.
• Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, presentations, etc.
• Experience with recruiting technologies (ATS, CRM) primarily Workday, Avature, iCIMS, Handshake and RippleMatch.
• Travel Up to 30%.
