Where You'll Come In

The Contracts Specialist will play an integral role in the small, but mighty legal department at The Farmer’s Dog! You'll report to the Corporate Counsel, and manage the company’s day-to-day legal and compliance needs, and help implement the company’s strategic priorities. You'll also work with and manage external counsel specialized matters as needed.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Implement and manage the business’ first contract management software solution, develop workflows and train internal functions on the use thereof.
• Support continuous improvement of templates, policies, and processes to help streamline and simplify contracting, and to allow the business to independently address common commercial needs.
• Assist with drafting, negotiating, and finalizing a variety of commercial agreements, including, but not limited to marketing, technology, procurement/logistics, manufacturing, supply, agency, social media, and other vendor agreements.
• Support handling a broad range of corporate, employment, and intellectual property-related matters.
• Supervise the status of agreements in the legal department queue.

We're Excited About You Because You Have

• A Bachelor's Degree
• 3+ years of proven experience working with contracts in a legal practice or in-house setting.
• Strong general commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills.
• A consistent track record of working under pressure, meeting deadlines, prioritizing, and leading multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly evolving, sometimes ambiguous environment.
• An ability to understand business needs and partner with colleagues to find creative solutions, with a strong understanding of the interplay between legal and business risk.
• A true teammate mentality, with excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills!
• Proficiency with GoogleSuite, Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) & Adobe Acrobat.
• Prior contract management system experience.
• Possibly worked with VC funding, corporate governance, and/or M&A, and a familiarity of Lexis+ or legal research.
• A Paralegal certification as a plus.
