Job Description

Job Description BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Project Manager for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system, known as the Sentinel ICBM Program.
Tell me about this job. This position will directly support the Sentinel Program’s Launch Guidance & Control (LGC) Branch as they acquire the weapon system command & control capabilities for the next generation ICBM. Duties include providing expert advice and support to GBSD leaders on all command & control aspects throughout the acquisition cycle. Areas of responsibility that fall under LGC Team include: weapon system command & control, ICBM codes/cryptography, ICBM targeting, nuclear command, control & communications (NC3) systems, ICBM command pathways, and airborne launch control capabilities.
To successfully accomplish this, the Sentinel ICBM Program requires a Project Manager with a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment. The applicant must possess high energy and a strong motivation to make a difference. They must be comfortable working with changing priorities.
This position will directly support the US Air Force’s Command and Launch (C&L) Division within the Sentinel ICBM Program Office. Duties will include providing expert advice and support to government Sentinel leaders on all command & control fielding aspects throughout the acquisition cycle.
Specifically, this potential team member will be responsible for supporting the government customer in the review, and assessment of Sentinel prime contractor’s design, documentation, architectures, and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) products in order to meet acquisition requirements and timelines. Our team provides expertise on weapon system and lab architectures, concepts of operation, modeling, simulation, and plans for addressing command & control integration options. This team member will assist in the day-to-day operations of the LGC Branch including status tracking, meeting support, integrated master schedule (IMS) development and management. The position interacts with government customer staff and senior leaders in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Headquarter Air Force, Air Force Global Strike Command, the National Security Agency, U.S. Strategic Command, as well as other GBSD team partners from Federally-Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) and University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs). This team member will also coordinate and integrate actions with other program managers, engineers, logisticians, testers, and external agencies. Our team includes existing staff with extensive expertise in the current Minuteman III weapon system and actively participates in ongoing studies and assessments for this next generation ICBM system.
This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team within a large defense company with an extraordinary, positive culture and mission focus. In this position, you will provide direct support to a national security critical weapon system throughout engineering development, deployment and sustainment. You will become a trusted mission partner to the innovative, Digital Engineering-driven Air Force organization that will design, build, test, transition, and sustain the world’s safest, most secure, and effective land-based nuclear deterrent. Do not miss this!

Why GBSD? The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program was recently designated the USAF as the Sentinel ICBM program. The Sentinel program is an enormous and complex “Mega-Project” modernizing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without any doubt, Sentinel is one of the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) most important acquisition efforts for the next two decades, if not longer. It includes a complete refurbishment of 450+ aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly designed, technologically-advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command and control system as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain this new weapon system over the decades ahead. Sentinel is a DoD “program of record,” having achieved Acquisitions Milestone B in 2020 and it’s just over three years away from beginning field deployment of missiles and launch centers at the first missile wing scheduled for conversion. It enjoys broad, strong support at the national level. It is a long-term project -- the weapon system will deploy over a nine-year period beginning in approximately 2025, and remain operational until at least 2075. Sentinel is a career-defining program that will present unique and challenging opportunities that simply are not available with smaller projects.
Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.
This position is only located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, due to the special-access classified working environment and is not conducive to regular “telework” or remote schedules.
