BlackRock Netherlands B.V. (BNBV) is a Dutch asset manager that provides investment services to institutional clients within the EU. It operates within the global BlackRock firm and acts as the BlackRock EU hub for MiFID 2 regulated services and as the sub-distributor of BlackRock funds in the EU/EEA. BNBV has 400+ employees across the EU and manages over €286 billion* in AUM for clients in the EU which are serviced through BNBV’s network of 10 separate branches. A presence in the Netherlands includes Amsterdam (63 staff) and Eindhoven (9 staff). BNBV is authorised and supervised by the Authority on Financial Markets (AFM) as an investment firm under MiFID 2. BNBV is also subject to the prudential supervision by De Nederlandsche Bank (Dutch Central Bank).

This Analyst position is within the Platform Oversight team reporting to VP, Platform Oversight team lead in Amsterdam. Platform Oversight works cross-channel for the execution and oversight of Governance & Control activities for BNBV. Reporting to the Country COO, Platform Oversight ensures alignment across functional areas in the strengthening of the operational processes with all internal partners of BNBV and ensures a continuous oversight of outsourced processes.

The Platform Oversight team is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual interested in working in a fast-paced, international environment as a member of a closely knit team. The candidate assumes a multi-faceted role which requires a passion for the asset management industry, a high level of flexibility as well as strong analytical, conceptual, organizational and project management skills.

The Analyst will be supporting the governance framework of BNBV and oversee operational processes carried out by both internal and external service providers to ensure BNBV remains fully compliant with MiFID and applicable regulations. The candidate will be helping to drive the agenda of the BNBV Operating Committee (OpCo) and BNBV Board of Directors (Board), supporting day-to-day activities and projects.

The position will require developing a strong understanding of BNBV’s business activities as well as developing of a broad network with key stakeholders in- and externally. The role offers the opportunity for a junior professional to work with senior management and start a career in asset management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and coordination of management and regulatory reporting to OpCo and Board meetings
  • Maintenance of local governance framework in cooperation with local control & oversight functions
  • Support firm wide governance and control initiatives
  • Monitoring, executing and subsequently reporting on the control cycle around delegated services
  • Coordination of external and internal audit requests
  • Maintain operating processes and coordinate self-audits
  • Preparation of meetings with and reporting for NL regulators
  • Coordination of interaction with industry bodies/associations
  • Assisting with scheduling internal calls, setting up internal meetings; preparing logistics etc.;
  • Support management team on day-to-day activity, ad-hoc assignments and strategic projects
  • Development of strong relationships with various internal and external partners on local and global level

Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Competencies:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance and/or Economics
  • 0-3 years’ work experience in asset management, trust offices, financial services or consulting with a genuine interest in asset management
  • Background in governance and control environments is a plus
  • Fluency in English and Dutch
  • Ability to multitask and to work in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Drive, flexibility and proactive work attitude
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Sound judgment, professionalism and discretion
  • Polished written and oral communication skills
