Analyst - Business Continuity
Description
This position covers all aspects of business continuity planning, recovery plan development/enhancements, compliance standards, assessing critical functions, analyzing critical data from departments, disaster recovery strategies/options, integrating plans, programs, and systems to minimize the disruption to critical Teradata services. The Business Continuity Manager provides functional expertise on disaster recovery/ business continuity planning matters with a comprehensive ability to recover systems and operations with minimal operating risk. This candidate will need to ensure that critical services and capabilities remain operational, appropriate communications to stakeholders are conducted, and financial and reputation loss is minimized.
This Manager role will plan and coordinate business continuity and disaster recovery strategies that comply with applicable regulations and are directly aligned to our organizational and IT objectives. Additionally, this position will partner closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure practices, policies and plans meet all clients’ requirements. The role will align operations and IT to prevent, plan, and support these programs by utilizing an inclusive, cooperative, and consensus-building process.
As a member of the Information Security Risk and Governance team will leverage broad technical knowledge of the security controls implemented at Teradata to lead the Audit Readiness program. This is a global role with responsibility for responding to information security needs across the entire Teradata corporation. Given the nature of work and interaction with teams across the globe, the position can be based Remote.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Provide leadership and strategy for Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) program Plan, build, run, and manage enterprise-wide BC and DR including strategies, plan development, plan exercising, and manage related IT budgets (capital and operational), annual program agendas, and recovery improvement metrics.
- Manage the execution and completion of all BC and DR test activities and identify recommendations to improve process, plans, and procedures.
- Maintain close partnership with business unit management, external business partners, and key IT staff for all BC and DR planning, testing, and execution.
- Conduct contingency planning including identifying potential business interruptions, developing safeguards against disruptions, and implementing recovery procedures that includes consideration for cloud delivered applications and services.
- Develop business recovery plans and procedures.
- Manage risk through identifying and categorizing outage exposures that could cause a business disruption and understand insurance and vendor agreements to safeguard against a disaster event.
- Oversee the design, execution and continuous improvement of BC and DR plans through rigorous exercising.
- Interface with the IT PMO to ensure that new and ongoing projects sustain the level of recoverability consistent with business objectives.
- Manage the creation of program status communications to internal management (e.g., leadership committees) and external stakeholders (including regulators, auditors and customers) regarding the status of the BC and DR program, including annual reporting, audit report responses and customer requests.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience contributing to a Business Continuity program
- Experience with performing business continuity program activities, including business Impact Analysis, continuity strategy documentation, tabletop exercises, and stakeholder trainings
- Experience with ServiceNow BCM preferred with an understanding of engineering and operating resilient modern application/data/infrastructure architectures and knowledge of business continuity, risk, and major incident management frameworks (aligned to ISO and NIST standards and guidelines)
- Experience with designing and leading workshops that engage stakeholders to identify business processes, quantify enterprise impacts, and document dependencies on upstream and downstream resources
- Knowledge of developing policies, standards, and plans
- Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision in planning and organizing his/her work.
- A proven track record of delivering results, utilizing sound project management, organizational, information systems and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to guide stakeholders with identifying and documenting tactical procedures to sustain critical business processes during disruptive events
- Solid background in IT environment, operations, and technology
- Experience with DRaaS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
