Senior Manager, Sales Strategy & Analytics

Reports To: Sr. Director, Sales Strategy & Planning

Location: Atlanta, GA

Position Overview:

The Senior Manager of Sales Strategy & Analytics supports the omnichannel sales strategy development and deployment within the Writing Business Unit (BU). In coordination with the Writing BU Sales / Planning leadership, this individual is responsible for developing strategic priorities and initiatives to unlock long term growth and profitability. This leader will develop consistent tools and processes to drive effective go-to-market commercial planning and execution. The role will also serve as a key representative for Writing Sales with other Writing functions, Business Units, and the Customer Center of Excellence (COE).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence
    • Revenue and Market Share. Contributes to the delivery of revenue, profit, and market share growth targets through analysis of customer financial investments to maximize productivity and promotional effectiveness.
    • Forecasting & Billing Process. Supports the monthly Sales & Operations Process and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of the sales forecasting and customer cost to serve model for the business unit.
    • Long Range Planning & Annual Planning: Leverage internal and external data sources to support revenue and profitability forecasts in coordination with Marketing & Finance teams.
    • Sales Support. Chief of Staff for Strategy & Planning Leader to drive effective decision making and support executive reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Commercial Excellence
    • BU Strategic Planning. Provide analytical support and develop strategic recommendations for channel strategies to enable long term growth and profitability.
    • Joint Business Planning. Partner with Writing Sales Leadership and COE to lead the regular development and review of key customer joint business plans, metrics, and scorecards with drive to create actionable insights and recommendations.
    • Omnichannel Strategy & Operations. Responsible for developing training(s), metrics, tools, and capabilities to support omnichannel sales teams by leveraging industry best practices.
    • Sales Analytics. Develop and lead a Sales Analytics community of practice within the Writing BU to establish common reporting, best practice sharing, and approach.
  • Selling Tools and Administration. Coordinate the development and maintenance of commercial collateral to enable insight lead selling stores with consistent approach to Category Development.
  • Team \ Talent Development. Managing a team of 2 direct reports while advancing Newell Brands’ 4 T culture (Trust, Transparency, Truth, Teamwork) and operational excellence across the Newell Sales capability. Responsible for the recruitment, selection, development, and retention of top talent.
  • Voice of Writing BU. Collaborates with Sales Strategy, Planning, & Analytics counterparts within Newell Brands COE and BUs, highlighting best practices, and deploying capabilities that enable planning and sales execution excellence.
  • Project Lead / Implementor. Leads ad-hoc projects as it relates to corporate or BU initiatives. Partners with commercial, operational, and corporate teams to develop and implement processes, tracking and reporting needed to achieve expected result.

Qualifications:

  • University or four-year college degree; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years combined sales operations, sales, channel management, and/or brand management experience
  • Ability to operate independently given direction, and bring ideas and solutions to issues raised
  • Interpersonal savvy; an ability to effectively work with, influence and connect with all levels of employees across multiple functions and geographies
  • Ability to improve processes and gain efficiencies within those processes
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce desired tangible outcomes within tight timeframes
  • Strong project planning, tracking & organizing skills
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to present data in an organized manner
