The Role We’re looking for a human-centric and detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist who will be responsible for payroll and benefits administration. As the Payroll & Benefits Specialist at Zeus, you will be running our biweekly payroll and administering various employee benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, 401(k), and leaves of absence. This person must be well versed in applicable federal and state HR regulations for both employees and contractors, build trust with each person at the company, and maintain strict confidentiality.

What You’ll Do

    • Process biweekly payroll (hourly and salaried) and handle all payroll-related tasks in an accurate and timely manner
    • Manage hourly employee timesheets and prepare them for payroll submission
    • Ensure compliance with all payroll-related Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations (FLSA, wage, tax, etc.) within our existing and expanding locations
    • Handle garnishments, tax filings, and new state registrations
    • Administer worker's compensation, including coordination of claims and assisting with yearly audit
    • Administer leave of absence programs and policies in accordance with Federal and State employment laws (FMLA, ADA, etc.)
    • Manage employee benefit plans (including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), etc.) and liaise with our insurance brokers when needed
    • Assist employees with all payroll- and benefits-related questions
    • Partner with the Finance team on payroll and benefits reconciliation, and tracking benefits usage
    • Leverage HR analytics to identify areas that need to be addressed and/or improved
    • Maintain Rippling (our HRIS) with all employee data changes and payroll records
    • Respond to employee and manager questions promptly with a service-minded approach
    • Monitor payroll and benefit processes for effectiveness and proactively improve and create new processes
    • Collaborate with other People team members on ad hoc projects

What You Bring

    • Previous knowledge and experience in payroll and benefits administration
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion
    • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations such as federal/state payroll and benefits laws, regulations, and requirements
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with at least intermediate-level Excel skills and comfortability with software such as Google Docs, Rippling, Lever (ATS)
    • Ability to work autonomously and independently, while contributing to team initiatives
    • An organic interest in continuous process improvement and effective project management
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment; detail-oriented; not afraid to roll up your sleeves; and a customer-service spirit toward all employees
