In the Recruiter role, you will be responsible for sourcing, screening, and supporting RSMs & SMs to hire hourly roles within your assigned retail divisions. You will partner with hiring managers, divisional leadership as well as HR Business Partners to determine hiring strategy, candidate assessment and timelines. You will proactively identify external talent, help to manage the internal recruiting process and consult with store hiring managers with hourly hiring tools and resources. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

Please note: This is a temporary Recruiter role, slated to last now until May 2021. You will be required to work Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week, out of your home office for the duration of the assignment.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult and advise retail hiring managers on the overall hiring process, job postings, and effective candidate assessment/interview techniques, offers, etc.
  • Source talented and diverse candidates through creative recruiting methods which attract and engage both active and passive candidates
  • Screen and interview candidates to assess knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the retail labor market and share impact on assigned business unit leaders
  • Build strong relationships with candidates, hiring managers and HR Business Partners to ensure hiring requirements are met
  • Create positive applicant experiences through the interview and hiring process
  • Maintain applicant tracking system and communicate updates to hiring managers in a timely manner
  • Monitor and manage individual performance to metrics
  • Lead or assist in retail project initiatives including interview guides, hourly hiring toolkit, optimizing recruiting processes and new stores
  • Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals
  • Clearly conveys and accurately receives information by a variety of methods and in various situations
  • Builds rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization
  • Acts upon opportunities and involves and influences others in the accomplishment of worthwhile organizational goals
  • Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change

Bring your passion and expertise

  • The ideal candidates will have 1+ year experience hiring hourly employees within their current market or other relevant direct recruiting / talent acquisition experience.
  • They will have exhibited an interest in REI’s DEI/REDI efforts through participation in the BIPOC Inclusion Group, proactive DEI partnerships they have formed in their market, or engagement in DEI/REDI conversations.
  • The right individuals will have strong influencing skills and possess a leadership presence.
  • They will be in good standing in their current role.

The Recruiter position and the opportunity to be trained and coached on hiring best practices is a development opportunity for current RSMs, Leads, or specialists who have previous hiring experience.
