Viasat is looking for a creative, bright, and innovative Technical Service Manager to work at the forefront of what makes us successful. This is a unique opportunity to work with our talented engineers developing and supporting technology programs.

We are seeking a Technical Service Manager to lead the Viasat Antenna Systems Service and Installation Support Team (ViaAssist). The ViaAssist team is comprised of Technical Support Engineers and Field Support Engineers. In this role, you will manage the ViaAssist team during the sustainment phase of a program’s lifecycle responsible for providing technical support for our SatCom, Earth Observation (EO), Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) and Real-Time Earth (RTE) customers around the world for commercial space and military applications. The successful candidate will have experience working with a variety of engineering teams (system architects, electrical design, RF microwave, mechanical, engineering analysis, special test equipment, integration and test). In addition, you will be developing customer relationships and working effectively with functional areas within the company. You will be leading, directing and motivating cross-discipline teams across multiple organizations and geographic sites.

  • Managing the ViaAssist team, providing feedback, and resolving complex problems
  • Discovering ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and processes
  • Appling change, risk and resource management principles when required
  • Flowing improvements & change recommendations to engineering teams
  • Cultivating relationships with functional area managers to maximize synergies across organizations within the Atlanta Ground Systems businesses
  • Keeping business area leaders, program managers and key stakeholders informed of the status of cases using accurate and detailed reports/presentations
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience Satellite Communication or similar engineering field
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Recruit, train and develop the ViaAssist team in line with the strategic workforce plan ensuring they have the required skills, training, and tools to complete their taskings.
  • Extensive problem-solving skills, and ability to drive resolutions to a close
  • Will play a key technical hands-on role and lead the team
  • Create and promote an inclusive and collaborative environment
  • Report the status of the ViaAssist team and resolve program staffing conflicts
  • Organization skills to manage multiple cases of varying programs and track progress for several tasks at once
  • Will delegate assignments as operations deem necessary
  • Collaborates with leadership to enact business strategies
  • Familiarity/use of data analysis tools and automated reporting tools
  • Excellent client-facing (customer engagement) skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal); able to interact with all levels in the organization
  • This position involves work on both government and commercial programs.
  • Ability to obtain a Top-secret security clearance
  • US citizen or Permanent resident required
  • Travel up to 25%
If the Federal Executive Order for Government Contractors becomes effective, this role may require vaccination. In such instance, absent an approved accommodation based on a religious or medical reason, employees in this role will be required to be fully vaccinated no later than applicable deadlines, which are unknown at this point.
