As an E3 EMC and Certification Engineer you will be a key technical leader to provide EMC and regulatory certification compliance direction for technology and development of Viasat products. You will wear many hats while performing a variety of functions to support Viasat with:

Technical Project leadership

Risk assessment

Systems engineering input

EMC design and test guidance

Regulatory compliance specification interpretation

Product qualification

Product test planning and execution

Product certification & continuing compliance

Compliance reporting

Customer technical support

Your engineering expertise will support Viasat staff by providing EMC and Regulatory inputs during the entire product development cycle at Viasat. This includes key E3 participation in; contract-proposal phase, at contract-review on acceptance, and in program planning for and execution of engineering and qualification test programs. It will require your duty as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for EMC during the execution of the program’s product qualification and regulatory compliance testing in external test laboratories; heavy technical responsibility for the test procedures is a critical skill for the SME. Finally, it requires you will provide the requisite documentation review ability to the program which produces final deliverable technical documents for cognizant authorities at completion of the compliance evaluation.

Requirements

• Experience in engineering technical project management with emphasis on schedule / cost balance in a dynamic work environment
• 6+years’ experience designing, developing and testing RF communications and crypto products
• Current knowledge of US Government and International EMC requirements for ITE and radio products supporting evaluations for RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1399, IEC/CISPR 24, IEC/CISPR 22, IEC/CISPR32, CFR 47 PARTS 11/15/25/27 &90, ETSI 301 428, ETSI 303-978, ETSI 301-489-12.
• Direct experience with integration of wide-bandwidth RF communications terminal into military platforms and facilities
• Familiarity with MIL-ST-188-181 / -182 / -183 (UHF SATCOM/LOS)
• Familiarity with MIL-ST-188-164 (C, X, Ku and Ka-band terminals)
• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering or Math, with emphasis in RF Communications Systems, Antennas and Propagation, Cryptography or Systems Engineering. Direct experience will be evaluated for augmenting degree requirements.
• US citizenship required
• Ability to qualify for and maintain Secret security clearance
• Ability to travel up to 75%

Preferences

• Experience in TEMPEST technical projects is a plus. This includes lab certification processes / services for NSTISSAM-TEMPEST 1/92, AMSG-720/784, FIPS-140-1
• Current Secret security clearance
• Master’s degree: BSEE Degree with relevant technical experience may be considered equivalent
• Certifications for EMC (iNARTE) and/or TEMPEST (CTP-II) IEEE membership, specifically in EMC, Antennas and Propagation, or Cryptography
• Continuing Education coursework
• Other professional affiliations
