Ancestry is looking for a Data Science Engineering Intern who is interested in computer vision and deep learning to join our Data Science team for the Summer of 2022. The Data Science team is working on some of the most challenging and impactful genealogy content data problems such as ranking, computer vision, and NLP. The Data Science Engineering team continuously works to build and enhance our AI platform to facilitate both products and business needs. As a Data Science Engineering Intern, on the Data Science Engineering team you will contribute by building scalable components to be added into the AI platform. You'll work with data scientists and engineers to deploy models. You would also test different architectures and technologies for several machine learning and deep learning models to improve the AI platform scalability and performance.
What you will do...
- Investigate and understand different cloud tools
- Investigate and understand different software optimization techniques
- Test different architectures for load and performance
- Design and build components that is going to be a part of ML AI platform
- Design and build components that would help to improve scalability, performance, and cost optimization
- Work with teams to solve interesting data science and software engineering problems
- You will code review and bug fixing
- You will do software documentation
Who you are...
- Experience with Python and Java along with an understanding of CS fundamentals and object-oriented programming
- Experience with Computer Vision is a bonus
- Experience with machine learning theory and practice is helpful
- Experience using machine learning software such as Pytorch, TensorFlow
- Experience with economics theory and business practices
- Experience with Hadoop or Spark and C++ is a bonus
Internship Program Details: Students must be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. educational institution with a graduation date after August 2022. Summer 2022 program dates are
May 16th – September 9th** (Please note that we will have three intern onboarding dates to choose from: May 16th, June 6th and June 21st. Students may offboard every Friday, beginning August 12th. All internships must be wrapped up by September 9th.)
FULLY PAID temporary housing and
travel to and from internship All summer internships will be in Lehi, Utah. You will work a combined hybrid and office-based schedule that allows you to choose which days you come into the office and which days you work from temporary housing/home (Utah students). Interns have the opportunity to network and partner with other interns and industry-leading professionals. You will participate in engaging events including executive speaker sessions, professional development, and our annual Intern Days to showcase your project and work.
