Job Summary

  • To provide engineering leadership for identification of new technology / product portfolio opportunities in Vehicle domain with focus on electrification, emission & safety regulations. This involves working with research and development teams across multiple regions and divisions within Vehicle Group, Global Innovation Centers, and Eaton Research Labs (ERL). The scope of the products and technologies to be developed are targeted to be applicable across various Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Electric Vehicle (xEV) architectures.
  • In collaboration with the research teams across Eaton Vehicle Group and external stakeholders, the engineering manager will be responsible for identifying technology needs for various Vehicle system architectures and leverage Eaton's global engineering footprint to demonstrate the value proposition of innovative and differentiated technology solutions. Key areas of focus includes Power Electronics, Safety, Vehicle to Grid Charging, Emission Control Systems, ePowertrain & Fuel Cell EV Systems. Reponsibilities also include working with regional commercial teams to pursue end customers and achieve nominations for joint technology development agreements.
  • Knowledge of the latest regulatory, customer, and competitive trends in Vehicle markets
  • In-depth understanding of technology innovation and new product devlopment for Vehicle and Energy Generation segments
  • Proven ability to connect with industry influencers and end customers to develop appropriate value propositions for Eaton solutions

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with cross functional team to engage external customers (OEMs and Tier 1's) to understand roadmaps for Vehicle of future
  • Strengthen regulatory and competitive understanding through participation in external conferences and conducting internal benchmarking studies
  • Work with ERL, Internal CoEs, and External Universities to innovate & enhance technology readiness level (TRL) for new ideas
  • Work with Product teams, Sales, and Marketing to develop new technology solutions to meet customer expectations on cost & performance
  • Engage with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to prepare MFG & SCM strategies for new technology development
  • Gain prototype commitment from customers, ensure timely prototype delivery, and achieve successful completion of technology demonstrators
  • Work with global leadership to develop an appropriate technology roadmap to support the technology strategy / technology roadmap
  • Develop technology roadmap and mentor project team achieve milestone completions & budget adherence
  • Hiring & developing talent for identified technology domains
Qualifications

Requirement:

  • Undergraduate / Graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Automotive Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in new technology development / new product introduction
  • Process knowledge: Systems Engineering, New Technology Innovation Stage Gate approach, IP Landscaping, Competition Study, Business Model Canvas, Value Proposition Canvas
  • Mobile transportation market & competition knowledge
  • Design optimization for mechanical, flow, thermal & electromagnetic requirements
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
  • Team player with highly effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Innovative aptitude, offers creative solutions for technical problems
  • Strong strategic agility, business acumen, and drive for results
  • People agility: coaching, mentoring, motivating, and influencing
