Job Description

Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA), the consulting arm of Visa, is a global team of industry experts in strategy, marketing, operations, risk and economics consulting, with decades of experience in the payments industry.

Our VCA teams offers,

VCA team is looking for an individual to join our data science practice. This is a unique opportunity to gain broad experience, have significant responsibility for a variety of projects and engage with key decision-makers. Reporting to the Head of Data Science in LAC.

This role will lead a team of data scientists, data engineers and machine learning engineers that will develop data driven solutions that sit atop vast Visa datasets. The challenge will be to create high-performance algorithms, cutting-edge analytical techniques including machine learning and artificial intelligence, and intuitive workflows that allow our users to derive insights from big data that in turn drive their businesses. You will have the opportunity to create high performance analytic solutions based on data sets measured in the billions of transactions and front-end visualizations to unleash the value of big data, identify opportunities to support business and client needs in a quantitative manner and facilitate informed recommendations / decisions through activities like building ML models, automated data pipelines, design data architecture/schema, perform jobs in big data cluster by using different execution engines and program languages such as Python, (Py)Spark, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the evolution of Data & Data Driven Solutions with an impact focused on data science and engineering in VCA.
  • Lead the development of data driven solutions aligned with market priorities
  • Continuously innovate and determine new approaches, tools, techniques & technologies to solve business problems and generate business insights & recommendations
  • Partner across the organization including consultants, engineering, and sales to determine the highest priority problems to solve
  • Evaluate trade-offs between many possible analytics solutions to a problem, taking into account usability, technical feasibility, timelines, and differing stakeholder opinions to make a decision
  • Evangelize releases to users, incorporating feedback, and tracking usage to inform future development
  • Ensure proper data governance policies are followed by implementing or validating Data Lineage, Quality checks, classification, etc.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define vision, establish team culture and processes
  • Consistently focus on key drivers of organization value and prioritize operational activities accordingly
  • Identify and act upon solution improvement opportunities
  • Maintain awareness of relevant technical and product trends through self-learning/study, training classes and job shadowing.
  • Implement a robust system for measuring and optimizing the quality of deployed algorithms and models. Institute ML processes for model development with an emphasis on auditability, versioning, and data security.
  • Monitor ML models in production to evaluate performance, model drift, and decay.

Required Skills

  • Prior experience in working in product development/management role
  • Ability to coach, lead and provide direction to a diverse team of technical personnel
  • Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written) and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate experience leveraging open-source tools, predictive analytics, machine learning, advanced statistics, and other data techniques to develop data driven solutions
  • Hands-on experience extracting and manipulate large datasets (Big Data) using standard tools such as Hadoop (Hive), Spark, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Hands-on experience developing Machine Learning models is a plus (Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, SVM, ANN) using Python (scikit-learn), Spark MLlib.
  • Hands-on Experience with data visualization and tools like Tableau and Power BI.
  • Experience in building and deploying production level data driven applications and data processing workflows/pipelines and/or implementing machine learning systems at scale in Scala, Python or (PySpark) and deliver analytics involving all phases like data ingestion, feature engineering, modeling, tuning, evaluating, monitoring, and presenting
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to develop, understand, synthesize, and communicate technical complexities to non technical peers and clients, both senior and junior, in a simple and clear manner
  • Ability to inspire, influence, negotiate and drive results
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with business partners and cross-functional teams. Strong ability to collaborate across cultures.
  • Fluency in English/ Spanish (spoken/written). Portuguese is a plus.

The following skills will be considered as a plus,

  • Experience in developing integrated cloud applications with services like Azure. Databricks, Amazon or GCP
  • Experience of managing/working in Agile teams

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
•BA/BS required, MBA or other relevant Master's degree preferred (eg, engineering, computer science, Computer Engineering, applied mathematics or other related fields)
Preferred Qualifications
•At least 12 years of experience as data engineer and data scientist and with open-source tools
•At least 7 years of experience in managing people/teams
•At least 10 years of experience in Banking, Retailers or payment system.
