About this role

Function Overview:

Global Product Group (GPG) brings innovation, discipline, and focus to BlackRock’s investment product line by aligning client and investment teams in the design and execution of product-related initiatives.

The Client Product Strategy (CPS) Team forms part of GPG, and is responsible to own and drive product strategy, positioning and promotion, and partner with the Client Business sales teams to support business efforts across Asia Pacific (APAC). CPS works with Investment and Marketing teams to help bring focus to sales initiatives and identify suitable products for clients across the range of traditional asset pillars (equities, fixed income, and multi-asset), primarily in mutual fund structures.

Role description:

We are seeking a senior individual to join the team in an asset class ‘pillar’ role to drive product strategy and partner the Client Business in commercialization efforts across a multi-asset range of long-only investment products.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior stakeholders across investment, sales, marketing, and other product functions both regionally and globally to develop and execute against a product plan based on client feedback, CIO views, and market intelligence
  • Partner with the above teams to help define how to effectively position BlackRock’s key product franchises, and collaborate on execution of product promotions, fund manager roadshows, etc
  • Drive product innovation and provide input to product development from a client perspective. Understand buying behaviour and client segmentation to articulate a distribution plan for new funds
  • Stay informed of client feedback, competitor positioning, market trends, and sales results, in order to inform the evolution of product content, messaging, and distribution effectiveness against stated goals
  • Ensure consistent delivery of collateral, content, and internal product training to optimise sales focus, including assisting sales teams with client queries related to products
  • Lead and/or engage in product aspects of various firm-wide strategic projects
  • Oversee communications regarding key product changes (including investment personnel changes)
  • Help build, motivate, and manage the broader Client Product Strategy team, which may include direct reports

Qualifications/competencies:

  • 10+ years of proven financial services experience, preferably in investment/mutual fund product strategy or sales
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to execute within a matrix organisation, across multiple functions, geographies and stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, investments and/or products, performance attribution, market factors and drivers of returns for different asset classes
  • Superior presentation skills, especially concise delivery of pertinent facts
  • Fluent English with Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) a significant plus
  • Experience in managing/inspiring a team, and working across borders and cultures is essential
