Job Summary

Responsible for planning and designing new software and web applications. Analyzes, tests and assists with the integration of new applications. Documents all development activity. Assists with training non-technical personnel. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
  • Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Assists with the software update process for existing applications and roll-outs of software releases.
  • Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
  • Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
  • Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
  • Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.
  • Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
  • Displays knowledge of and ability to apply, project management skills.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in Production systems performance testing and analysis during non-peak hours for identifying first level of bottlenecks w.r.t capacity of overall system.
  • 4+ years of experience in Identify performance bottlenecks in different IP Video Architectures, Infrastructure, Performance monitoring and analysis, fixing performance issues, Code analysis, provide detail recommendations reports.
  • 4+ years of experience in Non-Functional requirements gathering and validation for IP Video platform, understanding the architecture and application design, derive workload model, define monitoring key performance indices for components/ systems/ applications and troubleshoot non-functional issues.
  • 4+ years of experience in Root Cause analysis, any issues and potential optimization across all the performance test cases, details and metrics collection for troubleshooting, Identification of code Hot Spots and behavioral patterns.
  • 2+ years of experience in collating and analysis of the performance/trend metrics, logs and patterns during period of application crash and creation of alerts and Service Operational Procedure to tackle the issues proactively.
  • 4+ years of experience in publishing the identified performance hotspots, root cause analysis, detailed analysis of performance and scalability reports, tuning recommendations, performance metrics and defect metrics to leadership team.
  • 4+ years of experience in Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis test cases which will have scenarios like component/ system crash, data center fail over, validation of Recovery Point Objective and Recovery Time Objective and Data center failures etc. by understanding application architecture.
  • Work with world-class enterprise platforms which require high availability and scalability.
  • Assists in Defect Management, Release Management, Monitoring and ensures the team is operating at peak efficiency and works with other IT teams to assess/triage areas/issues to be addressed.
  • Works alongside Automation engineers to participate in the architecture and leads the implementation of the cloud-based aspects of the system.
  • Works effectively with Development teams, Customer/Technical Support as well as Product and Project Management and other cross functional teams to deliver highest Quality Products.
  • Builds and administers automated performance testing framework to perform Component and Integration Testing.
  • 1+ years of experience in Development of an automation framework that follows SDET, Agile and DevOps model of development to provide automated performance test solutions on all VIPER components.
  • Collaborates with Development, Test Automation, QA locally and CIEC, and IT Operation Teams to coordinate and align activities to deadline and goals.
  • Maintains documentation of system tailoring that is deployed.
  • Drives improvements to team efficiencies working with offshore team.

Pay Range: $100,475.81 - $150,713.72

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
