The key goals and responsibilities of this position include:
• Developing strategic objectives and leading Strategy & Business Development teams in pursuit of Laser & Sensor Systems long-range goals.
• Developing, staffing, and leading campaigns to secure science and technology, development and production contracts aligned with strategic objectives.
• Act as our customers’ advocate within LM. Cultivate relationships across the Department of Defense and Internationally that foster dialogue around advanced laser weapon system mission capabilities, utilizing operational analyses to highlight current and objective requirements.
• Leading the team through development new business opportunity pipeline development, including qualification, pursuit and re-assessment on an ongoing basis.
• Manage the full spectrum of the Laser & Sensor Systems Win Plan, including New Business Fund budgets and Capture Team resources for business development responsibilities.
• Collaborating across Business Areas and Lines of Business, domestically and internationally, to form creative partnerships that identify issues, drive innovation and obtain consensus in order to achieve business objectives.
• Leading diverse teams in developing and delivering superior products with constrained schedules and resources, including but not limited to white papers, presentations, proposals, and marketing campaigns.
Bothell preferred location, but flexible regarding other locations.
Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in Business Development or Capture Management with proposal development experience.
• 3+ years of demonstrated team leadership that includes proven communication and presentation skills, effective decision making, building consensus, conflict resolution, and sustaining the team's energy and commitment
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally. Travel on average is 50%.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven full spectrum leadership behaviors including shaping future, building effective relationships, energizing the team, delivering results, and modeling ethical behavior
• Familiarity with the following core areas of expertise: DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) and Acquisitions, the Defense sector international sales and marketing, Directed Energy acquisitions and requirements organizations and processes.
• Must hold an active Secret clearance at time of hire and have the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Desired Skills:
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience /combined education, with 18 or more years of professional experience; or 15 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
• Solid understanding of US Department of Defense Directed Energy organizations and laboratories (Services, OSD, etc.)
•Advanced business acumen including the ability to investigate, comprehend, and interpret complex business challenges, and to think and act both strategically and tactically to assess and build effective customer relationships both externally and throughout the organization.
•Ability to bridge from strategy to actionable team objectives, actions, and progress metrics though critical thinking.
•Advanced leadership and relationship building skills with the ability to manage through influence.
•Ability to work across a geographically dispersed organization with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and nourish diversity.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Hold a Top Secret clearance.
