Toast’s Hardware team designs and develops world-class hardware devices in conjunction with our JDM & ODM partners. We are a very lean team that focuses on the key elements of Android devices and accessories, and architect our devices to offer the best hardware solutions for our customers. From our close relationships with our customers, we have learned the important design features that make our devices truly restaurant-grade. We focus on the long-term reliability of our devices to ensure our customers do not have to be concerned with their Toast hardware always being ready for another busy day. As a Summer Intern on the Hardware Team, you will collaborate with other team members in the designing, developing, NPI and sustaining Engineering needed to support our products. You may collaborate with other key teams at Toast as well. We are all driven to make the best restaurant POS systems for our customers. On a given day, you might be testing products as a part of design validation, fabricating prototype devices, creating and analyzing quality data, and creating reports on failure analysis that you have completed.

About this roll * (Responsibilities)

• Fabricate and modify prototype parts using hand tools and manual methods.
• Assemble and disassemble Android devices.
• Conduct reliability testing (drop, cycling, environmental, etc) on components and products.
• Work with the HW engineering development team on system bring up, and system design validation.
• Work closely with ME’s and EE’s in hardware development.
• Support the team in debug, troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigations on android devices.
• Create various types of technical reports on data measured and failures identified.
• Visually inspect hardware devices for cosmetic and functional defects.
• Evaluate defective products returned by customers for root cause.
• Measure electrical performance properties of Android devices.
• Perform benchmark testing of Android devices comparing performance parameters.

• Excellent teamwork, prioritization, multitasking, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Enrolled as a student going into Junior or Senior year at a college in Mechanical Engineering.
