Job Description

Front is a hub for customer communication that allows companies to offer tailor-made service at scale. Front looks and feels like your email inbox with a few very important differences: teammates collaborate in the same place where external messages are sent and received, and behind the scenes, robust workflows and integrations power the efficiency and insights typically found in a CRM. More than 6,500 businesses use Front to work together to send out the best replies faster, keep messages organized across channels, and always maintain a personal touch. The result is premier, personalized service that scales with your business — and a team that works together as one. With $138M in funding, Front is backed by Sequoia Capital, and other leading venture capital firms, as well as independent investors including top executives of Atlassian, Okta, Qualtrics, and Zoom. Front was recently named to Forbes Best Startup Employers 2022 List , Inc. Magazine's 2022 Best Workplaces list , and Y Combinator's list of Top Companies in 2022 . We have also been recognized on Wealthfront’s Career-Launching Companies in 2021 . As a Senior Design Researcher joining the team in San Francisco, you’ll partner closely with Product Managers and Designers to define research needs based on the roadmap and identify opportunities for research to shape our strategy. You’ll support your partners in running their own studies and spearhead in-depth projects as we develop a deeper understanding of our users and improve our core product experience.

What you'll do:

    • Work with Product teams to shape the way our customers manage communication in Front
    • Identify research needs in partnership with the Product teams you support
    • Partner closely with designers and product managers to help them successfully execute their own research
    • Design and facilitate studies across important product areas, using methods such as ethnographic/field research, diary studies, surveys, user/usability testing, ideation workshops, and any other methods you find impactful
    • Analyze research insights and present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders
    • Effectively present and articulate your rationale to stakeholders and executives
    • Work with other research-related functions such as marketing, data science, and analytics to triangulate and contextualize user research findings
    • Collaborate with research teammates to contribute to our holistic view of the user experience

What we're looking for:

    • 5+ years of experience with Product organizations conducting UX research
    • Experience with SaaS, B2B or other complex technical systems
    • Experience applying a diverse toolkit of research methodologies
    • Passion for complexity and translating intricate user needs into a delightful product
    • Proven track record of teaching other disciplines about the process and value of research
    • Experience working with Product Managers and Designers to define research needs
    • Advocacy for research insights and examples of insights that led to shipped product experiences
