The Role: The Development Data Analyst will contribute to the AMG (Analysis, Monitoring and GIS Group) in three important areas: Billable Analysis Projects (Target 50% Billable Utilization) Intelligent Automation Continuous Improvement in Process and Data Management. Providing accurate analysis and reporting of the data collected with Pure Technologies, a Xylem brand, innovative pipeline inspection platforms is especially important in the first and fourth quarter of the year, when Development Analysts can be called on to provide most support to Data Analysis team members. However, equally important is providing support as a subject matter expert to cross functional groups and to work on unique initiatives that focus on intelligent automation, process, and data management improvements.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Interpret pipeline engineering drawings and correlate with acoustic data.
  • Use acoustic data to identify and located areas with pipe wall defects (thinning and/or leaks) liner delamination and/or pockets of trapped gas within pipelines.
  • Produce technical reports based on the analysis of acoustic data.
  • Work closely with project teams to: understand the full scope of a project, obtain required project information, resolve concerns or problems with the data, meet project deliverables dates.
  • Assist Data Scientists and support the automation of analysis techniques for improved defect identification and quantification by recommending and testing new analysis algorithms.
  • Collaborate closely with Software Product Owners on analysis software UI/UX design as well as addition of new analysis related functions.
  • Provide analysis support and feedback during new product design and testing and communicate analysis requirement.
  • Train Analysis team members and facilitate the spread of new knowledge and new product commercialization within the Analysis group.
  • Facilitate meetings to provide data interpretation and to explain analysis capabilities with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide continuous improvement in Process and Data Management through the stewardship of the verification SOP and database.
  • Provide continuous improvement in Process and Data Management through the stewardship of the calibration SOP and database.
  • May participate in training Delivery team members to bridge gap between Delivery/Analysis groups and support Delivery teams with onsite issues.
  • May be required to assist with field inspections and be on stand-by for emergency analysis/inspections.
  • Occasional travel throughout North America may be required

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physics or Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Strong understanding of the physical sciences.
  • Methodical and analytical with problem-solving situations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Customer relation skills when dealing with project inquiries.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • General pipeline knowledge or experience desirable.
  • Knowledge and application of artificial intelligence systems desirable.
  • Knowledge of computer programming (Python, SQL, MATLAB, C++, VBA) and data science methods desirable.
  • High level of computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An aptitude for pattern recognition and attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Time management skills and an ability to prioritize various tasks to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience in non-destructive testing data collection and data analysis desirable.
