Cultivate Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Graphic Designer through September 2022.
Reporting to the Design Manager, the Graphic Designer will work collaboratively with a team of designers, media production staff, communication and web specialists, events manager, and education-oriented content developers to independently design and develop Cultivate Learning’s educational products, publicity, and communication materials.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
• Design and layout for digital media and print, including handouts, workbooks, fillable PDF documents, agendas, guides, promotional flyers, magazines, posters, and large-scale graphics for events, while conveying a consistent message and image of Cultivate Learning.
• Create and edit large and complex InDesign documents.
• Use existing PPT templates for training materials and courses. PPT is the primary tool that is used for training and course development.
• Use existing Word templates for one-pagers and other documents.
• Assist in creating and updating Word and PPT templates as needed.
• Develop graphics including illustrations, diagrams, and charts, while adhering to Cultivate Learning messaging and style guides.
• Enhance and manipulate photographs, including color correction and cutting elements from backgrounds.
• Convert complex conceptual information and written material into persuasive, functional, and informative visuals that effectively and simply convey key information.
• Review and edit material prepared Cultivate Learning staff for adherence to design standards and serve as a design adviser when applicable.
• Develop multimedia graphics for video post-production and screen overlays.
• Ensure that print and digital content meets established guidelines for communication, branding, and best practices for accessibility.
• Evaluate creative work being developed for Cultivate Learning, offering recommendations for improving quality, consistency and usability.
• Stay current on the latest trends, issues, and advances in print and multimedia design. Learn and apply new methods, processes, and technologies as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, information design, communication, or a similar field, to include at least 3 years of experience working on a design team.
• Exceptional visual design skills.
• Demonstrated ability to create press ready print files.
• Strong understanding of design principles for presentation design.
• Demonstrated experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
• Ability to design documents in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on PowerPoint and Word.
• Experience working directly with content developers on design implementation.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of multiple internal and external teams and organizations.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in design processes
• Ability to take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects and exercise good judgment in a fast paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment in an organized and professional manner.
• Ability to think strategically, problem solve, ask questions, and suggest creative solutions in line with Cultivate Learning objectives.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey creative ideas clearly via email and video.
• Web portfolio
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience using Asana for project management.
• Familiarity with universal design and accessibility best practices.
• Experience developing motion graphics and working in Adobe InDesign
• Accuracy with high volume of edits and template work
• Familiarity with higher education course development
• Experience in a higher education setting
• Familiarity with early learning in Washington State and/or national
