Description:IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.
This position will be located at our Santa Cruz, CA facility until 2024. At that point in time the work will be moved to other facilities across the country. We are committed to the work that needs to be done in Santa Cruz in between now and then. The hiring leader in charge of this role will be able to share more specific information tied to the move of this position during the interview process.
This occupation requires the inspection and/or performance of functional and operational test on missile components, units, sub-systems and systems. Inspect
installation of these items. Inspect the checkout- and pre-flight test of completed vehicles.
Set up and use a wide variety of standard environmental laboratory test equipment. Certify conformance of all items to LMSC, customer and manufacturers'
requirements.
Conduct in laboratory or inspect functional and/or operational test of missile components, sub-systems, systems, recording devices and test equipment. Use a wide variety of standard and environmental laboratory test equipment to determine conformance with specifications of electrical and electronic, pneumatic, and structural
components and assemblies.
Carry out complete inspection of installations and
functional operations. Inspect the installation of test devices, test equipment and recording instrumentation
used to determine performance characteristics of entire vehicle or missile systems during ground and flight tests.
Survey the disassembly, alteration, modification, reassembly and test of deviate items and certify conformance to specifications if acceptable.
Insure completeness and accuracy of all inspection records and test data. Certify completeness and conformance with workmanship with LMSC, customer and contract requirements. Inspect incorporation of design changes of items described herein. Prepare necessary documentation on all rejected or malfunctioning items.
Materials worked on: Electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and structural assemblies, sub assemblies, unit and components; ferrous and non-ferrous metals and
their alloys; non-metallic materials. Materials worked with:
All types of metallic and non-metallic materials.
Tools used: Mechanics' hand tools, electrical and electronic hand tools. Equipment used: A wide variety of electronic, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical testing equipment; environmental testing equipment such as shock testers,
accelerometers, vibrators, pressure chambers and ovens.
Basic Qualifications:
A complete knowledge of inspection practices and procedures; environmental, functional and operational test methods; and a variety of functional and environmental
test equipment relating to missiles and their components, sub-systems, systems and their integration.
A thorough knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic theory and inspection practices. Knowledge of missile structures and assemblies. Have a basic knowledge of environmental testing and related equipment.
Read and interpret all types of detail and assembly blueprints, drawings, sketches and circuit diagrams, related to missile systems, structures and instrumentation. Knowledge of shop mathematics including trigonometry. Ability to use all types of inspection precision measuring instruments.
Must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
