Providence is calling a Manager Technical Services Biomedical - Technology Support Services Clinical Engineering Providence (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland , OR

We are seeking a Manager Technical Services Biomedical - Technology Support Services Clinical Engineering Providence that will administer and direct the operations of clinical engineering. The department serves 3 acute care facilities including Providence Portland, Providence Milwaukie and Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center. Direct, organize, plan, control and measure the servicing of biomedical equipment.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide daily supervision for the department by scheduling shifts, work assignments, overseeing productivity, and by defining goals and developing plans to meet those goals in accordance with the Mission of Providence Health Systems
  • Develop and implement an equipment management program to schedule, document, and manage the repair and scheduled maintenance provided by the department on medical instrumentation throughout the institution
  • Develop a parts system to keep equipment downtime to a minimum and maintain rapid work flow through the department
  • The above will be organized to support the institution in a cost effective manner
  • Coordinate with the Director for department training by means of service schools, seminars and cross training to keep department personnel current and ensure a high level of training and competency in specialized areas within the resources allotted and meeting established objectives
  • Conduct department staff meetings; accomplish ancillary training
  • Encourage open communication among staff and develop a spirit of teamwork and oneness of purpose and direction
  • Coordinate department service by interacting with managers to ensure needs are met in a timely and cost effective fashion
  • Perform performance management activities including coaching, performance appraisals and, where needed, corrective action
  • Conduct interviews, hire and fire staff
  • Organize and maintain efficient and safe shop facilities
  • Assist department safety officer by enforcing safe standards
  • Develop human resources by establishing work assignments, coordinating training, and instilling a spirit of teamwork and mission
  • Manage system installation by coordinating vendors and departments
  • Assist the Director with planning, budgeting, performance appraisals, and feedback insuring that the department operates efficiently and effectively
  • Provide pre-purchase equipment information dealing with life-cycle, installation, and service needs

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field, with eight (8) years working as a Biomedical Technician, at least three (3) of which involved direct supervision or management responsibilities in a hospital setting -OR-
  • Associate's Degree in an applicable field, with ten (10) years working as a Biomedical Technician, at least four (4) of which involved direct supervision or management responsibilities in a hospital setting
  • Coursework/Training :Significant amount of additional factory training
  • Broad based experience in the Biomedical Field
  • Experience with filing and record keeping, department procedures and regulatory standards

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Biomedical Technician certification
