This role sits on the Marketing Planning team within the Marketing Department. The Marketing Planning team is responsible for Marketing’s performance reporting, event/campaign analytics, traffic and spend forecasting/optimization, offer analytics, and annual strategic planning. This team collaborates across multiple teams within Marketing and cross-divisionally with Finance, Digital, Retail, and Merchandising.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn about and support all the existing functions of the Marketing Planning team, as well as help our team tackle new challenges. This person will conduct analyses and leverage data to monitor performance, share insights, and identify opportunities that will be critical to REI’s ongoing success.
This role is a combination of independent data work, presentations, and collaboration between Marketing Planning and various other teams at the Co-op, such as Marketing Channel teams, Finance, Digital Planning, Retail Planning, and Marketing Strategy.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has a passion for forecasting, who understands the role of marketing in a B2C retail environment and enjoys seeing their work directly contribute to the financial goals and performance of a values-based organization. This person is both analytical and communicative, and they enjoy working independently as well as collaborating on analyses with a variety of different partners.
- Deliver traffic and new member opportunity plans for Marketing
- Present to various audiences and represent Marketing Planning’s perspective across the co-op
- Partner with marketing teams within the department and planners across the co-op to align on forecasts
- Build partnerships with Marketing Analytics, Customer Insights, Digital Retail, and other data science/analyst teams
- Access and manipulate data using SQL in Snowflake
- Construct data visualizations to drive insights & strategy using Tableau
- Convey technical information and insights to non-technical audiences
- Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others
- Participate in quarterly planning and re-forecasting efforts with cross-divisional partner.
- Develop reporting and dashboards to monitor KPI performance against plan and prior period.
- Partner with analysts and data scientists to gain insight and find patterns in our traffic and customer data.
- Contributes meaningful recommendations and action steps to drive stakeholder business forward.
- Help stakeholders solve problems and generate insights with self-service datasets and visualizations.
Bring your passion and expertise
- 5+ years of experience in an analytical role
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, preferably with a multi-channel retailer or a B2C company
- 3+ years of experience with Tableau, Power BI, Periscope, or similar
- 3+ years of experience writing SQL
- 3+ years of experience using statistical methods to improve forecasting accuracy using R, Python, SAS, or similar
- Basic understanding of statistical methods.
- A solid business understanding and the proven ability to perform in-depth analysis, compile and interpret results, and report and present strategies and make recommendations to senior management.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to effectively and diplomatically communicate (written and verbal) with both internal and external contacts.
- Excellent follow through and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, be self-directed, budget time, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions to support the direction taken by others at REI.
- History challenging the status quo, champions change and influences others to change.

As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, REI provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.
$65,000 to $127,500 per year
