The Role

BuzzFeed is looking for a Project Manager to join our Production Technology team. BuzzFeed produces a wide scope of diverse content, ranging from short form social media content to BuzzFeed episodic shows. You will be essential to launching internal plans, partnering with department leads to discover project requirements, and enforcing/adjusting deadlines. You will be needed for a portion of the year only, from March to July.

You Will

  • Work with the Production Technology team, supported departments, and vendors to manage resources for assigned project efforts.
  • Manage a portfolio of complex projects that span one or multiple departments.
  • Schedule and moderate project team meetings to keep staff informed and on task.
  • Provide progress reports, proposals, project scope, requirement documentation and presentations to multiple audiences, including project team, sponsors and important partners.
  • Provide guidance and high-level perspective for team leads to work within the larger ecosystem.
  • Manage projects, including: work statements assigning subtask leads, developing and tracking budget and schedule, tracking individual tasks, resolving issues and action items, and communicating status to project team and partners.
  • Analyze and map our processes. Produce quality documentation and business process models for assigned projects.
  • Trace the requirements through the life cycle of a project to ensure that the scope is managed and that the original requirements are delivered.

Part of what makes BuzzFeed a pioneer in digital media is our commitment to exploring new ventures that lead to spreading truth and joy. As such, you may be asked to share your knowledge with your colleagues through presentations or trainings, to screen and interview job candidates, or to take part in recruitment or networking events on behalf of the company.

You Have

  • 3+ years equivalent work experience in project management or business analysis.
  • 1+ years managing a team of 5 or more.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and processes, requirements gathering, or business analysis.
  • Comfortable with candid conversations regarding difficult or unfeasible requests.
  • Familiar with end-to-end TV, film, or social media video production.
  • Make reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Comfortable presenting to all audiences.
  • Familiarity with Asana.

FYI — job descriptions are not a one size fits all, just because you don't meet every requirement doesn't mean we don't want to hear from you. If you think you'd be a good fit for the job anyway, use your application to show us why!
