The Market PMM Intern will work on both merchant and consumer needs to gain a working knowledge of both sides of the business. They will be in charge of supporting local Market PMM in their daily activities from getting a deep understanding of customers needs and used payment products as well as understanding the competition to enhance our users local experiences.
The internship is a 6-month full-time internship and will start in April 2022. The position will be based in our Berlin office.
  • Our team

    The Global Product Marketing team [PMM] is setup to drive product commercial success in partnership with Marketing, Global Product and Sales teams. PMM’s accomplish this by deeply understanding and consistently championing the needs of the customer as a representative voice in all discussions and decisions, ensuring product and feature releases solve tangible customer pain points.


    The Market PMM role is responsible for building a deep understanding of the market, competitive landscape, regulatory environment and financial services system as well as local culture & interaction with PayPal’s products & services across all customer segments. It connects the dots between Market, Global Marketing, Product and Sales teams at a local level to ensure accurate definition and prioritization of product and feature releases, improvements and bug fixes. While being aligned to specific geographies, Market PMMs are also responsible to collaborate across markets that serve each of our customer segments in the identification of opportunities for business growth.


    Job Description


    The Market PMM Intern will work on both merchant and consumer needs to gain a working knowledge of both sides of the business. They will be in charge of supporting local Market PMM in their daily activities from getting a deep understanding of customers needs and used payment products as well as understanding the competition to enhance our users local experiences.

    Key Responsibilities


    Daily activities are broken out into Inbound work and Outbound work

    From an inbound perspective (60% Time allocation), the Market PMM continually defines the most important customer needs and opportunities. The Market PMM intern will collaborate on the following activities:

    • Interacting with the following teams; Sales, Marketing, User Experience Research, Market research & Customer Support
    • Moderating or observing focus groups & 1:1 interviews with customers
    • Staying on top of and using competitor products in the Market
    • Staying on top of Market insights & trend

    Ultimately Market PMMs create a clear understanding of opportunities across product and segment in their market to allow prioritization at the global level. They will be able to help answer priority customer questions and requests with the local business, providing deep expertise about our products.


    From an outbound perspective (40% Time allocation), the Market PMM performs the in-market activities to ensure successful Pilot testing and Product feedback. The Market PMM intern will support local Go to Market Strategy across sales, marketing & functions at country level and ensures local understanding of global product delivery. They will constantly evaluate end to end journeys to identify optimization opportunities end local experience enhancement.

    • Energetic and positive, hungry to learn and challenge, creative, reliable, results focused with a can-do attitude
    • Interested in the operational, marketing, product and financial aspects of businesses in general
    • Strong in analytics and problem solving. Experienced/comfortable with data mining and analytical tools
    • Great communication skills and ability to work and collaborate cross-functionally with external and internal teams including Product, Marketing, Sales, Legal
    • Highly organized, attention to detail and follow-through. Should enjoy problem solving, fixing processes
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and excellent in MS Excel

    To Be Considered You Must

    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering, business, marketing, economics or data science at leading University, or equivalent
    • Fluency in English and German
    • Fluency in other European languages is advantageous
    • Be available for a 6-month internship starting in April 2022.
