Job Purpose/Background:

This role will focus on developing and maintaining key institutional and retail relationships for BlackRock Alternative Investments in Italy alongside the local sales teams. The candidate will contribute to the growth of Alternatives assets under management while continually improving and enhancing client experience in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for representing the BlackRock Alternatives Investment platform to prospects and clients in Italy expanding the client base with a focus on institutional clients across pension funds, insurers, family offices, foundations as well as the Wealth segment
  • Develop and execute on Alternative Sales Strategy and tactical plan for Italy
  • Spearhead the capital raising across Alternatives in close coordination with the local sales teams as well as the asset class specialists in BAS and Product Strategy
  • Represent BAS in strategic growth projects for the Italian market
  • Initiate capital raising with under-penetrated sectors of the Italian market. Actively prospect for new business opportunities and client relationships
  • Ensure close cooperation with the Global Consultants team in Italy
  • Coordinate with Product Strategy on existing clients looking to re-up or diversify into other Alternative offerings
  • Input into new product development for Private Markets strategies with a focus on Italian clients’ investment needs
  • Raise local profile of BlackRock’s Alternatives platform via media interviews and marketing activities

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Proven track record (min. 4-5 years) in raising capital for Alternative investment offerings
  • Deep understanding of (Alternative) asset management industry and awareness of the key issues in Alternatives relevant to Italian investors (regulation, accounting)
  • Experience in a client facing role with the ability to clearly articulate Alternative investment offerings across the full range of asset classes (private equity, private debt, real assets, liquid alternatives)
  • Understanding of the Italian client landscape for Alternatives and ability to build relationships across client segments
  • Strong organizational skills to aggregate, synthesize and prioritize Private Markets sales activities in the region
  • Displays natural leadership among broader sales team to drive business development and to establish credibility in executing the sales strategy
  • Good communications skills in presenting alternatives to external parties such as media or at marketing events
  • Understands key drivers of success and offering base of our competitors
  • Successful team player with ability to also work alone
  • Ability to effectively execute on decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong intellectual ability and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards and strong work ethic
  • Italian and English speaking
  • Finance degree and CAIA
