Your Impact:

Handshake is hiring a Head of Content Marketing reporting to Sr Director of Corporate Marketing on the Employer (B2B) Marketing Team. In this role you will lead our employer content marketing and editorial team to produce compelling, relevant content that supports thought leadership, integrated campaigns, blog and website traffic, and drive acquisition as well as customer retention.

You are a creative marketing and content professional with a strong writing background, excellent storytelling skills, and extensive experience developing content throughout a full marketing funnel that appeals to your target audience. You will have a keen sense of the messages, stories, engagement models, and tactics that make sense with different audiences, roles, and seniority. You understand what can keep our users (recruiters) coming back to Handshake for information, but also what can attract the attention of a C-level executive. You aren’t afraid to experiment with different media, whether it’s social, video, articles, events, stories, podcasts, or other new channels and platforms.

As the leader in early talent recruitment, Handshake is transforming how employers connect with students and Gen Z talent, and ultimately creating a more equitable way for them to move from college to career. You will be a leader across the company in getting these impactful stories out to market.

Your Role

  • Produce a cohesive content strategy and vision: Engage leaders and stakeholders and think creatively to align around the bold vision and strategy for content marketing to our employer audience.
  • Develop our content roadmap, including the development of themes/topics, alignment with integrated marketing initiatives, content creation, curation, and distribution and syndication with the end goal of accelerating thought leadership and awareness, elevating campaign impact, acquiring new customers, and driving customer success.
  • Serve as an in-house editor-in-chief for all external-facing employer content, and mManage and mentor a small, but high-performing content marketing team that touches nearly every word that is put in market.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our customers and the market. Identify what motivates them and uncover the questions that current and potential customers are asking to ensure we’re answering them in our marketing campaigns and collateral.
  • Collaborate across various content-producing teams at Handshake to ensure we’re consistent in our corporate and employer narratives, as well as creating opportunities and efficiencies between teams.
  • Work cross functionally with Demand Generation and Ops on audience and distribution strategy, with PMM on understanding our customers, with Field Marketing and Events on content and narratives to be put through our most successful channel, with Communications on larger trend pieces, with Insights to tell data-driven stories around early talent and DEI, and more.
  • Gather relevant metrics and feedback to understand the impact and effectiveness of content programs on the business and to inform strategic decisions. Develop an understanding of—and build a model for—how to measure content’s influence on both awareness and closed-won business.

Your Experience:

  • Senior experience (incl. management) in content marketing or similar roles, ideally within B2B SaaS. Bonus if you have experience in HRTech or Talent Acquisition.
  • A strong point of view for the future of our content strategy and how it maps to our campaigns; experience in building out the business case to pursue it.
  • Copyediting experience with best-in-class standards for editorial quality. In addition, you bring an immaculate attention to detail across all of your work.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project and team management skills; can drive from insight to ideation to execution, manage multiple projects at once, and re-prioritize as needed.
  • Proven experience mapping SEO initiatives to company growth imperatives.
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Trends to make informed content decisions.

Benefits:

  • Stock: Ownership in a fast-growing company.
  • 401k: We care about your ability to save for your future.
  • Family Focus: Parental leave and flexibility for families.
  • Time Off: Flexible vacation policy to encourage people to get out and see the world.
  • Healthcare: World-class medical, dental, and vision policies.
  • Goodies: Whatever hardware and software you need to get the job done.
  • Team Fun: Regularly scheduled events, sports, game nights, book clubs.
  • Learning: Learning & Development opportunities for you to grow your skills and career.
  • Great team: Working with fun, hardworking, nice people who are committed to making a difference!
  • ...And much more!

We value diversity of all kinds, and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where we learn from each other. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of all different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.
