Since Chris Blackwell first started Island Records in Jamaica in 1959, it has remained one of the world’s most legendary record labels and a coveted destination for new and established artists across genres. Today, Island is home to a varied roster across the US and UK. Its unique ethos has provided the platform for launching some of the biggest and most influential artists across the musical spectrum, including Bob Marley, U2, Grace Jones, Cat Stevens, Amy Winehouse, Florence & The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Dermot Kennedy, Sigrid, Sean Paul, M Huncho, MEDUZA, Jamie Cullum, The Specials and Ben Howard. More recent additions to the UK roster include Arrdee, Unknown T, easylife, The Lathums, Navos and Lola Young. The B Side: Skills & Experience

Be administrative
  • Screening all incoming calls, incoming and outgoing post and emails where appropriate
  • Putting together presentations where required
  • Managing all administration - filing, photocopying, typing and general ad-hoc duties
  • Organising personal arrangements if required
  • Processing invoices & expenses
  • Liaising with promoters for gigs & festivals and ordering tickets on behalf of the label
Be organised
  • Extensive diary management
  • Putting together presentations where required
  • Arranging business travel and preparing itineraries
  • Arranging and preparing for meetings – where relevant, preparing advance briefing notes
  • Managing and organising contacts, being aware of and communicating personnel changes
  • Arranging tables for industry award ceremonies such as BRITS and controlling guestlists as and when required
Be pre-emptive
  • Liaising with people at all levels across the business and externally
  • All other reasonable duties as requested

Person Specification

Necessary
  • Solid background of working in a PA/Team Assistant role, with experience in dealing with senior individuals in a music/media environment
  • Proven experience of working in a fast-paced, high-pressured environment
  • Proven experience of working under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Proactive approach to work, able to pre-empt problems before they occur
  • Excellent admin and co-ordination skills
  • Able to relay information in a clear and concise manner
  • Confident, assertive and organised
  • Strong sense of initiative, along with discretion
  • Dedicated, hardworking and flexible approach
  • Strong IT skills – highly competent in Microsoft Outlook / Word / Excel / PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Desirable
  • Experience using Universal internal systems
  • Music industry experience
  • Events organisation experience
