Job Description

3Q Digital is leading the disruption of the growth marketing industry by turning our clients into market leaders and household names across the B2C, B2B, ecommerce, and FinTech verticals. We’re independent and values-driven, and the way we work reflects our Silicon Valley roots: we're relentless, curious, and accept no limits in driving growth for our clients and each other.

We offer full marketing services including SEM, SEO, social advertising, display, mobile, analytics, CRO, creative, and business strategy. We build and execute strategies to enable clients and our own internal teams to capitalize on opportunities, break through barriers to growth, and lead our respective fields.

We are committed to building and sustaining an environment where everyone feels psychologically safe and valued. We seek frequent, open feedback from our team and we offer company-wide training and regular, open discussions on diversity, equity, inclusion and other social issues.

3Q offers employees flexibility with remote, hybrid, and in-office options (depending on team/location).About The Role

We are looking for a passionate, creative, and highly motivated SEO Strategist to join our growing SEO team. We work with a wide range of clients, spanning various verticals and industries so if you’re looking for a fast-paced, evolving, and collaborative environment, then 3Q Digital will be the place for you.

Our SEO Strategists are client-facing Subject Matter Experts (SME) who are charged with keeping clients abreast of the latest and greatest SEO trends, while also helping them achieve both their SEO and business goals. Our SEO Strategists will also get a chance to learn about Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO). While we don’t expect our Strategists to come to us with CRO experience, if you’ve ever been interested in the Site Experience or Site Testing side of SEO management, then this is your opportunity to expand your digital marketing repertoire.

About The Team

Our SEO team (internally called SECRO because we run SEO and CRO in tandem) is one of the fastest growing teams at 3Q Digital. We are a collaborative, fun, and inclusive team that is made up of SEO veterans, young upstarts, and a group of talented CRO SMEs. We are a team that’s dedicated to not only providing a world-class SEO service to our clients, but also fostering a world-class teaching environment for everyone on our team.

About You

We are looking for candidates who have at least 2 years of hands-on experience running & managing SEO projects. This is a mid-level position, ideal for someone who has a well-rounded SEO background and is comfortable with technical jargon. This is also a client-facing position, so a successful candidate will be able to distill complex SEO concepts into something a non-digital marketer can understand. The SEO Strategist will report to a Director, SEO and will lead SEO strategy & execution for clients.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Explaining to clients how search engines work, SEO optimization techniques, principles of sound SEO strategies, and all key and recent industry changes.
  • Thinking creatively and strategically to identify and solve difficult website problems
  • Managing accounts with various goals, moving deadlines, and changing priorities
  • Researching, diagnosing, and resolving technical site issues either independently or in collaboration with the development team. Must have a clear understanding of how and why technical issues, including crawl errors, redirection, duplication, and site speed, can impact website performance
  • Conducting keyword research, strategy assessments, and competitive analyses.
  • Creating high quality and well-written deliverables and presentations that successfully communicate SEO opportunities & recommendations to clients.
  • Presenting SEO results, developing insights and analysis, and providing recommendations for account optimizations.
  • Mentoring & teaching junior associates.

You’ll need to have experience in the following areas:

  • Technical auditing including identifying, diagnosing, and creating a plan to address crawl errors, URL treatment & duplication issues, crawler accessibility and readability concerns, and site speed problems.
  • Diagnose keyword targeting issues as well as creation of new keyword strategy to establish optimization opportunities for metadata, on-page content, and structured data.
  • Site optimizations including metadata, content, rich assets (e.g. images, vidoe), and site speed.
  • Project planning & roadmap development
  • Providing consistent and structured follow up on status of SEO recommendations

Other key skills:

  • Strong time and project management skills as well as high attention to detail
  • Experience using SEO-related tools including (but not limited to) Screaming Frog, DeepCrawl, BrightEdge, Searchmetrics, SEMrush, and AHREFs.
  • Experience with site analytics tools like Google Search Console, Google Analytics, or Adobe Analytics.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills and be proficient in Powerpoint, Excel, and Word
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, and Javascript development and constraints
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a self-starter and able to work both independently and in a team environment

Additional things that will impress us:

  • You are an energetic and creative SEO enthusiast; eager to roll up your sleeves and be hands on, learn, and grow in the search marketing space
  • Familiarity with Tableau or Data Studio
  • Familiarity with common CMS & eCommerce platforms, including Drupal, WordPress, Magento, Commerce Cloud (formerly Demandware), and Shopify.
  • Familiarity with international SEO best practices & SEO best practices for JavaScript websites
  • Familiarity with non-traditional search engines, including Amazon, YouTube, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store.
  • Strong perspective on mobile-specific products (e.g. AMP, PWAs, and native apps) and various JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React.js, Angular.js).
  • Experience with CRO and customer research
