About this role

The Financial Markets Advisory (FMA) business delivers a range of advisory services including sustainability, capital markets, portfolio construction and data & analytics solutions to official sector and financial institution clients globally, including banks and insurance companies. We support our clients on their most critical and complex financial issues – from managing the low carbon transition of the economy and financial sector, to unwinding portfolios of assets, to crafting and executing institutional programmes to support the economy for example through bond purchase programmes or infrastructure investments.

We leverage the firm’s sophisticated sustainability, capital markets, data & analytics, and technology capabilities to deliver impact-oriented advisory services.

We are looking to recruit Associate(s) / Analyst (s) focusing on Climate Analytics Services to join the team.

Key responsibilities

This candidate will be responsible for joining a team (Associate / Analyst) focused on sustainability and climate analysis of client portfolios, leveraging BlackRock’s leading proprietary sustainability models and tools.

BlackRock’s sustainability analytics efforts currently focus on transition and physical risk measurement, net zero analytics, and ESG scoring. This is supported by the sustainability modelling and analytics suite available within Aladdin, as well as broader BlackRock sustainability capabilities.

Specifically, the candidate will be expected to:

  • Execute global, complex, and high-profile projects related to climate stress testing
  • Leverage various BlackRock's models / tools / infrastructure to generate and review climate analytics on client portfolios
  • Share feedback with modelers/developers to enhance models / tools / infrastructure
  • Execute/Maintain ETL processes, perform quality control, analyze/deliver results, and create relevant reporting frameworks
  • Communicating and presenting results and analysis to internal/external stakeholders at all project phases
  • Collaborate with global engagement managers and project teams on overall project execution and content creation

Key skills and qualifications

The candidate will possess demonstrated analytical capabilities, and a track record of accomplishments in analytics development / deployment for the financial sector.

Key qualifications for candidates interested in joining FMA include:

  • 3+ (Associate) / 1+ (Analyst) years of experience in financial services, consulting, research, or other relevant fields, with a track record of outstanding achievements
  • Ability to execute projects related to data-driven processes (data onboarding, quality control, reporting etc.) utilizing a range of climate models/tools with a track record of outstanding achievements on data analysis, quality assurance, financial analysis, and reporting
  • Genuine passion for sustainability, and a self-determined drive to achieve superior performance
  • Strong quantitative and technical skills, including knowledge of financial concepts, ETL & related technologies
  • Good Excel skills; Python programming skills a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and, intellectual curiosity
  • Experience using and/or developing analytical systems / tools / infrastructure, a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear messages and acumen with clients and internal partners; and
  • Undergraduate and/or advanced degree from a top academic program focused on finance / capital markets, engineering, environmental, or related fields.
