Senior Manager, Platform Engineering

Job Description

This critical role in Hosting Services and PaaS (Platform as a Service) will lead our Platform Engineering Shared Services Team, which includes NSE (Netcentric Service Engineering - Web and Middleware components), IBM MQ Messaging Service, Net Backup and a new build out of a Cyber Vault Team as part of the IDR program.
Transition to the cloud is critical goal for this team and leader, in addition to implementing increased automation in order to focus on high value outcomes. This team is also currently supporting several high visibility and critical Enterprise Tech Strategy initiatives, including the MQ Transformation, implementing improved resiliency and transition/integration to the cloud/AWS . Additionally, as part of the Enterprise IDR program, a newly formed Cyber Vault Team will need to be built out.

This leader will be responsible for working closely with GTO peers, CTO and cross-divisional Architecture in order to develop and implement a strategic vision and roadmap for these shared services - again with a focus on integration with the AWS and the cloud, increased automation, continuous improvement and emerging technology. This position can be based in Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX, or Malvern, PA.

In this role you will:

• Manage and leads technical support staff across multiple disciplines as noted above - who provide technical support for the design and building of technical solutions.
• Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
• Provide leadership in designing, developing and implementing solutions in support of the business, according to standards and policies.
• Manage the planning and implementation of enterprise-wide platform projects, including schedule, resources and communication of project status. Anticipates current and future needs of the organization and makes recommendations regarding project scope, schedule and budget. Manages the resolution of the most complex availability and incident management issues elevated from staff and clients.
• Manage technical support staff who implement, monitor, troubleshoot, and install platforms across all systems, ensuring defined business service levels are met. Plans, develops, and executes short and long range goals and strategies to meet department, divisional, and corporate objectives.
• Evaluate alternatives for modifications to systems and implements solutions that meet long-term business objectives and current organizational requirements. Establishes, communicates and drives continuous improvement of key performance, quality and client satisfaction metrics.
• Plan and implement new technologies and major releases for the most critical enterprise-wide IT platform projects. Leads teams that troubleshoot, configure, and tune systems.
• Maintain expertise and awareness of industry trends and technologies; making timely adjustments to strategies as appropriate.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

Minimum of 10+ years of technical and technical leadership experience.
