We are looking for a leader to help expand and scale our worldwide carbon project sourcing capabilities, working closely with team members across multiple functions to plan and execute on securing gigatonne-scale carbon sequestration. This role collaborates closely with the Aspiration global B2B business to jointly grow our worldwide carbon program adoption. This position will report to the Director, Sustainable Carbon Programs.. What You'll Do
- Lead the day-to-day expansion and scaling of the global carbon credit portfolio
- Develop relationships with project developers and brokers worldwide
- Source carbon credits for short and medium term from 3rd parties
- Manage due diligence evaluations of offset projects against Aspiration quality criteria, including academic research and project and verification documentation reviews
- Evaluate and source new, landscape scale, globally distributed reforestation/nature-based carbon removal projects
- Understand and leverage forestry and nature-based sequestration science to identify and evaluate new projects and types of removals
- Work to analyze and structure economics, deals and proposals of carbon projects
- Collaborate with business development team to close deals with prospective partners
- Provide support to internal marketing/business development, audit, financial, and other teams on items related to reforestation and carbon offsetting
What You'll Bring
- 6-8+ years experience in climate change, carbon offsets, or carbon markets
- Project development and/or carbon/forestry project evaluation and negotiation
- Familiarity with core principles of carbon offset quality criteria
- Proven track record of working in a fast-paced growth-focused environment
- Exceptional project coordination and program management skills
- Strong research, communication, and presentation skills
- Self-starter, get things done attitude with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Creative problem solver
- Proven ability to work with, inspire and energize others, internal and external
