About the role:

Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, payrates range from $18/hour-$45/hour, depending on students level in their undergraduate or advanced degrees and level of professional experience. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

Project Outline:

The summer intern will join the Cell Therapy Clinical Pharmacology, Modeling and Bioinformatics teams within PTM organization of OTAU. The intern will have an opportunity to work on project (s) developing mechanistic models (PBPK, QSP), or conduct meta-analysis or leverage big data (scRNAseq) and advanced AI technology (DL) to understand and characterize cell sub-population and their corresponding functions and phenotypes. The intern will work closely with pharmacology, translational, clinical and product scientists, and gain exposure to cell therapy product development process in pharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills; the ability to work well in teams, effectively manage projects, and present ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Previous experience and interest in applying mechanistic modeling to describe biological,/pharmacological processes, PKPD and system modeling
  • Strong hands-on competencies using mathematical modeling software’s,
  • Deep understanding Machine Learning, AI, computer sciences, algorithms development; and hands-on experience of pytorch, tensorflow and other alternative platforms;proficiency in scripting and programming in R, Python, or other modern programming language;

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis
  • Must be available full time (40 hours/week) a minimum of 12 weeks during the Summer months
  • Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0
  • Graduate, PhD, MD student with at least one year of university studies before internship.
    • Senior PhD students (3rd-5th year) in Pharmaceutical sciences, Pharmacology, Physics, Biophysics, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering , Statistics computational sciences, bioinformatics, computational biology or data sciences
  • Return to university for at least one semester post-internship
  • Takeda does not provide student housing or housing stipends
