Job Description


What is the purpose of this role?

The Corporate Accountant supports the management and reporting of the corporate P&L and balance sheet. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: GL account maintenance, month end close, account reconciliations, and reporting to stakeholders. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, efficiency, stakeholder management and a curious mindset. Regular reporting must be conducted with accuracy, quality and timeliness whilst adhering to strict SOX compliance and audit requirements.

What will my key accountabilities be?

  • Creating policies and procedures for our changing environment both relating to Accounting Policies and Technological transformation
  • Working on new operating platforms for our accounting transactions, specifically transitioning to Oracle
  • Effective resolution of queries from stakeholders within and external to finance
  • Balance sheet account management and reconciliation as well as analysis of income and expenditure for corporate functions.
  • Working alongside tax specialist to prepare tax return and quarterly reporting obligations.
  • Meet critical due dates and deadlines, especially during the month end process
  • Provide accurate, timely and expert reporting and financial statements to key stakeholders, management and statutory bodies.
  • Other responsibilities will include bank reconciliations, chart of account management, G&A management and reporting, cash flow and financial risk management, intercompany transactions and lease accounting.

Compliance:

  • Apply company policies and procedures and understand their relevance and importance to maintaining internal controls. This includes, but is not limited to, SOX controls and audit evidence requirements.
  • Escalate transactional and system anomalies including internal control compliance issues to the manager as they arise.
  • Meet specific team objectives and metrics, and support the business to achieve company-wide objectives.
  • Demonstrate in depth knowledge of processes and procedures relevant to the function and take a proactive role in improving efficiency.
  • Provide clear guidance on compliance to procedures and processes with both internal and external customers.

Qualifications


Essential technical and behavioural skills

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Demonstrated 2 years prior experience in a similar role
  • Displays a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in work
  • Proactive and takes pride in work
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team
  • Actively seeks and accepts constructive feedback to build skills and competencies
  • Ethical and Responsible
  • Holds self-accountable
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills

Desirable

  • Studying or completed CPA or CA
  • McDonald’s restaurant experience
  • Process improvement experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrated analytic skills and ability to problem solve
  • Flexible and adaptive to change
  • Knowledgeable in reconciliations
  • Ability to engage with others and build effective relationships
