What You Will Do: The Senior Actuary will serve as a subject matter expert of Annuities and Mutual Funds within Individual Solutions Finance Team. As part the team focused on supporting Individual Solutions, you will perform financial analysis over the Annuities and Mutual Fund business, including profitability analysis, budgeting/forecasting and comparisons of results relative to expectations. Use your expertise to apply your financial knowledge and judgment to activities that are diverse and complex in order to validate the integrity of financial results.

What You Will Learn: In this role, you will gain exposure to Transamerica’s Individual Solutions and Enterprise Finance teams, while interacting with multi-functional groups. You will also have the ability to support both strategic and tactical projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manages staff to achieve performance standards, develop and motivate staff to achieve effectiveness; mentors, trains and shares high level knowledge. Ensures staff demonstrates appropriate customer service attitudes.
  • Oversee the management staff providing hiring, direction, counseling and training of staff. Also completes performance appraisals and evaluates overall performance of team. Effectively communicate goals based on objectives and assist staff in setting goals and performance measures.
  • Utilizes a thorough understanding of the business to proactively oversee and direct the development of financial reports and complex models for forecasting, trending and results analysis.
  • Ensures the interpretation of analysis is credible and explainable.
  • Directs/reviews preparation of applicable financial analysis.
  • Prepares written analyses of issues to enhance the understanding of senior management.
  • Oversees product related reporting and analysis, make recommendations to Senior Leaders and Divisional Leadership, as needed.
  • Develops financial proposals that support business objectives and manage risk.
  • Works effectively with other departments/divisions to ensure business issues are resolved for the success of the company.
  • Exhibits a thorough understanding of business and analysis concepts.
  • Recommends and leads implementation of changes to processes to achieve efficiencies through use of technology.
  • Manages a department or a functional area of importance. Implements operating procedures in conformance with annual budget. Has latitude to determine how to achieve objectives within budget. Typically does not perform the duties of individual contributors in the department. Often interacts with Divisional Leadership or Senior Management.
  • Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.

Qualifications:

  • FSA or equivalent professional designation along with bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field,
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience, with degree and 5 years demonstrated supervisory/management experience.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Written/verbal communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of business area preferred (Annuities, Mutual Funds).
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing, to all audiences, ability to handle multiple projects by using effective project management skills, analytical.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills, effective judgment, address employee issues on a timely basis.

It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation. **

Compensation:

The salary for this position generally ranges between $140,000 - $185,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.

Bonus Eligibility:

This position is also typically eligible for an annual bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company Discretion at a rate of 25%.

Working Environment:

Hybrid : Will need to work at a Company office location at times and a remote work location (typically their home) at times.
