The Role

BuzzFeed is looking for a dynamic, digital executive with a passion for media and content-driven advertising to lead BuzzFeed Australia's business. As Commercial Director, you will oversee the health of BuzzFeed Australia's business and lead efforts to further monetize BuzzFeed Australia's sites, brands, properties and audience that our team of editors has grown.

As the most senior person in BuzzFeed Australia's Business Team, you will establish the vision for the direct sold advertising business, and develop a plan to build upon that vision, which will include growing our advertising business and developing new revenue streams through partnerships. In addition to managing the Sales, Client Services, and Distribution teams to achieve revenue targets, you will work with our Business Strategy and Content teams to ensure that programmes are implemented to maximum long-term client satisfaction. You will report to SVP, Client Partnerships.

You Will

  • Work with partners to develop near- and long-term strategy for BuzzFeed Australia's market to achieve revenue goals
  • Lead BuzzFeed Australia's Business team and partner with BuzzFeed Australia's Content team (including HuffPost) to build new sponsorship opportunities and products.
  • Introduce our brands, reach, and product suite to clients and agencies in BuzzFeed Australia's through meetings, speaking opportunities, and written materials
  • Manage your own patch and important agency relationships in addition to leading the business team.
  • Exceed individual and regional revenue goals
  • Develop senior-level relationships with clients, agencies, platforms, and partners
  • Provide feedback to our product teams about in-market needs
  • Understand BuzzFeed Australia's competitive landscape and identify opportunities that translate to revenue growth
  • Identify and understand trends within social media
  • Analyse data and use it to advocate for investments to grow our BuzzFeed Australia's business

You Have

  • Experience working in digital sales and managing sales and teams
  • Digital media experience in the Australian market
  • Experience with success driving revenue with a focus on building long-term partnerships
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, and an ability to persuade at all levels of an agency or client
  • A data- and results-led approach to your business
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • Knowledge of the social platforms and the latest social ad products
  • A passion for social advertising and new media
  • Knowledge of the online advertising industry
  • The ability to work in a fast-moving company and industry
