Role Overview:

The Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering (ISSE) Directorate within Collins Aerospace Mission Systems strategic business unit is seeking a systems engineer to help execute technical scope as a member of the platform systems team. You will work closely with a team of experienced systems engineers. This opportunity includes supporting one or both of the following platforms: E-4 and E-6. You will be part of a distributed team composed of professionals from several disciplines (engineering, program management, senior leadership) and must have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position is in Richardson, TX.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to technical trade studies, develop and allocation requirements, define interfaces to translate requirements into hardware and software specifications, model use cases, participate in documentation reviews, create integration and test procedures, support hardware component test activities, document problem reports found during testing, providing written and verbal status of testing progress to the concurrent engineering team, and provide suggestions for problem trouble report resolution.
  • Learn from and support experienced engineers and architects with various tasks including but not limited to (integration of a system, troubleshooting, running and facilitating testing, producing reports and updating documentation).
  • Apply SysML concepts for System Modelling across a full engineering lifecycle.
  • Ability to function in agile development environment.
  • Contribute to a culture of trust, respect, integrity, excellence and innovation.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-functional team environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with systems development and life cycle
  • Experience with requirements tools such as DOORS and/or Jama
  • Experience with issue tracking databases such as JIRA
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect
  • Interest in other related subdisciplines such as human factors, system safety, reliability & maintainability, and cybersecurity.
