Software Engineer - Feature Development Lead (LDP Rotational)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team in the development of new and enhanced features for an existing military communication radio system.
  • Have an opportunity to gain experience with the following:
    • Developing software modules and integrating them with other software components on a custom hardware platform
    • Learning how to configure, control, and utilize a military communication system
    • Utilizing test equipment to measure and verify digital signals into military radio systems as well as RF signals out of the radio
    • Ensuring interoperability of Collins products with other communication systems
  • Gain an understanding of the following:
    • U.S. military communication protocols
    • Utilization of embedded cryptography
    • The SCA (Software Communication Architecture) specification, the U.S. military standard for software defined radios
    • Understanding what our customers need and then delivering those capabilities to our warfighters
  • Be a part of a leadership development program where you will gain experience in rotational programs across Raytheon Technologies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, Masters degree, or PhD in Engineering or hard sciences (Engineering: aerospace, mechanical, electrical, software, systems engineering or related discipline) (Hard Sciences: physics, mathematics, chemistry, or computer science)
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher in undergraduate or graduate studies
  • Ability to geographically relocate for each rotational assignment
  • 1 internship/co-op experience in engineering, hard sciences, or a related discipline
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

  • Experience with C++ and Object-Oriented Design and Development
  • Background in embedded software architecture and implementation
  • SW-to-SW and SW-to-HW integration
  • Familiarity/experience with Agile process and roles (Product Owner, Scrum Master) and project management
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian ALM tool suite
  • Familiarity with some industry communication protocols and/or networking standards
  • RTOS and/or embedded Linux experience preferred
